Green and Black Planthopper - Desudaba psittacus

This page contains pictures and information about Green and Black Planthoppers that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia. 

Body length 20mm 
 
This Leafhopper has the black head and black wings cover. Its abdomen is bright green in colour. When its wings are opened, there was the bright red spot on the base of each hind wing.

We found this insect on a Citrus tree in early summer. When disturbed, it hides to the other side of the tree trunk.

On a hot mid-summer afternoon, we found about ten of them resting vertically on a gum tree trunk.

We also found many of them on tree trunk in Sinnamon Park during late summer.
