Him who is dead and gone, honour with remembrance, not with tears
-St. Chrysostom

My parents are Geb and Nut, my sister and wife is Isis. My brother Set and I are and have been enemies for nearly as far back as my memory stretches. The time came when his hate for me finally made its appearance, and the result of that was my death. He sealed me up tightly in a coffin and threw me into the Nile, thinking that he had done with me. However, my devoted and beloved Isis would not give up on me. She proved herself the better of Set when she fooled him, thus resulting in the elevation of our son Horus to the throne. During all of this, I was the first being whose body was ever preserved by mummification, this process leading to my being granted a new life as god of the dead. I take great pride in this position, and I can be considered quite zealous in my work. I insist upon respect for those who have passed on, and look harshly upon those that would desecrate the dead’s final resting place.

After the decline in our worship on the world known as Earth, Isis became attracted to another world and in particular the gypsies of that world. She expressed a desire to focus on that world and I was quite agreeable in the matter. Along with us came the rest of our pantheon, and we settled in quite nicely. However, in recent years Set has once more begun to show his true colors and he began making more difficulties for the people of that world. In particular, he set his eye on Tandraia, the most powerful of the countries on that world.

I must admit that I have been too busy in my current duties to do much against all of this, I have only gotten personally involved perhaps twice. I shall continue to stand at a distance save at those times in which my own spheres come into conflict with things, and even then it shall have to be determined on a case by case basis. The lives of the mortals are something that a god should take care not to meddle in too closely. Of course, there shall be times which my beloved wife shall appeal to me and I must admit that I do find it difficult in those instances to remain detached from things. For those mortals who might find themselves interested, such things happen even in the godly realms. And indeed, it does still rankle us a bit. But in the end, peace and harmony at home are to be greatly desired.

Such is Osiris, king of gods,
Great power of heaven,
Ruler of the living,
King of those beyond!
Whom thousands bless in Kher-aha,
Whom mankind extols in On;
Who owns the choice cuts in Houses-on-High,
For whom sacrifice is made in Memphis.
