TEEN PEOPLE/AOL CHAT TRANSCRIPT
HostTPZena: Good evening, everyone! I'm Zena from TEEN PEOPLE Online and we're lucky to welcome Ikaika Kahoano, Mike Miller, Bryan Chan and Matt Morrison -- the guys from the new band LMNT -- to the stage tonight! You remember Ikaika, Bryan and Mike from the series "Making the Band", and anyone who has seen Broadway's "Footloose" will surely recognize Matt Morrison...
Good evening, guys!
Mike Miller: How you doing, folks? Good to be here.
Ikaika Kahoano: Aloha.
Bryan Chan: Hey guys; good to be here with our new name and all...
Matt Morrison: Hello!
HostTPZena: We've got a two-parter here....
Question: What does it feel like to be watched most of the time? And what do you want to be remembered for when you die?
Ikaika Kahoano: It's not that cool to be filmed all the time (from the show). When I die I want to be remembered for always giving everything my best shot.
Mike Miller: It took some getting used to but it was worth it, and I want to be remembered for always making people happy.
Bryan Chan: I think being watched comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility. You can use it to help people or make a difference in people's lives. It's something I take very seriously. I hope people remember me for my honesty and integrity.
Ikaika Kahoano: Me too!
Bryan Chan: Ikaika, don't be a copycat..get your own...(laughing)
Matt Morrison: I'd like to be remembered for always being cheerful and having a smile on my face...
Question: When does you CD and first single come out?
Mike Miller: Once we secure a label, we hope to have a single out for you guys early next year, and the album shortly after.
HostTPZena: A question about your name now...
Mike Miller: We were going over all the entries [in the TEEN PEOPLE Online Naming the Band contest] and Matt liked how the named "element" sounded, so he looked it up in the dictionary and the definition was the four basic substances (earth, fire, wind, water) that make up the earth. And there's
four of us...go figure.
Ikaika Kahoano: The elements are also very different, just as we are different as individuals in terms of our colors, race, and background, but we're all the same thing, we're all people.
Question: How did you guys come together?
Matt Morrison: The guys obviously came together through the show, and I think it was just fate that I was in the right place at the right time when they came together.
HostTPZena: How did the three of you from the show decide to start a band?
Mike Miller: I was at the premiere party for our show and I was approached by a potential financer with the idea to take the guys that didn't make the final cut and form a group. After searching for the right guys, Matt and Ikaika fell into my and Bryan's lap.
HostTPZena: And the question on everyone's mind...
Ikaika Kahoano: I left the show because it wasn't for me. That's pretty much it. I just want to say that I didn't leave because of my family or my girlfriend. I left of my own choice. It seemed that everything was about the television show and not about the music. I wasn't ready for everything that
was happening to me, in terms of the cameras following me everywhere. It would have been fine if they'd just filmed me, but I didn't appreciate them following me to my house and to my girlfriend's place because I felt that that was unnecessary and it had nothing to do with music.
HostTPZena: OK...let's see what else we have....
Mike Miller: I love my new group; our sound is a nice blend between pop and R&B and we are called LMNT (pronounced element). My favorite O-Town boy is Trevor.
Question: What is the driving force of your lives?
Ikaika Kahoano: God.
Bryan Chan: I definitely think that my family motivates me to succeed and to push myself to attain the things in life that I set for myself.
Mike Miller: Family and friends, and all the people I come in contact with who support me.
Matt Morrison: The driving force of my life is all my friends being very supportive of me. I think that if I stop having fun, I won't survive.
Question: Hey LMNT..my friends and I met you in boston one night after the 'Nsync concert. Just wanted to know if you have any favorite hobbies or what you guys like to do? (Matt, ya still playing charades w/ 'Nsync?) Best of luck.
Matt Morrison: On occasion!
Ikaika Kahoano: OMG!!! LOL.
Matt Morrison: Justin's still the champion charade player.
Bryan Chan: We all like to do sports and activites together. In fact, we're all going white water rafting for the holiday weekend.
Question: Hiya Ikaika. How come you and Jacob didn't seem to get along so well? What was his problem?
Ikaika: Because we're both very strong minded. I guess we both wanted things to be the way that we each wanted it. We had our differences at the time, but my leaving the show seemed to mend everything and free both of our minds. We're friends now.
HostTPZena: Alright...question number two on everyone's mind...
Question: Matt, do you have a girlfriend? I THINK YOU ARE SUCH A HOTTIE! omg!!!!
Matt Morrison: No, I'm as free as a bird and lookin' for love in all the wrong places!
HostTPZena: :::and the nation cheers:::
Matt Morrison: I'm a warrior poet...
Question: If you had to pick with being trapped in a room full of snakes or a room full of spiders what would it be?
Matt Morrison: I'd do spiders, because at least they're quiet! Snakes would be hissing.
Ikaika Kahoano: Spiders.
Mike Miller: Snakes.
Bryan Chan: Snakes, definitely.
Question: Who likes Britney Spears the most, and why?
Mike Miller: I love Britney becasue she's an amazing performer and she's cute.
Question: What kind of music do you guys sing?
Bryan Chan: We've been really working on our music to come up with a different sound. If you listen to the songs that we're working on you will definitely hear remnants of Boyz II Men, New Edition and a mix of a lot of the current pop sounds that are out there. We hope you like it!
Question: What were your jobs before this band? And didn't Mike work at Chili's?
Mike Miller: I was a proud member of the Chili's employee family! I also worked at the Gap.
Ikaika Kahoano: I worked at Round Table Pizza, a golf course, an organic chemistry lab and a Summer Fun.
Bryan Chan: I use to spend my summers working at the county fair working at a corn dogstand called the Doug House. I would walk out greasier than the dogs.
Matt Morrison: I was a singing waiter at a very nice Italian restaurant in Orange County, and for four summers, I worked teaching kindergarten through third graders how to sing and dance at a musical theater camp.
HostTPZena: Well, time's up...thanks so much for coming by and chatting with TEEN PEOPLE Online! Any parting words?
Matt Morrison: We must part.
Bryan Chan: We want to thank all the fans that have really supported us, especially after leaving the show. We're really excited about this new project, and we hope to bring
you music that you'll enjoy and want to listen to.
Mike Miller: Thanks a lot for signing on. We look forward to chatting with you again sometime! Keep your eyes open...much love and God bless.
Ikaika Kahoano: Thank you, everyone, for all the support. Keep an eye out for us in the future. Aloha, a hui hou!
