Lenny Kravitz, LMNT, Jamie Lynn Sigler, and Sheryl Crow are just a few of the musicians who will come together in an effort to raise money to help out in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks on America. The singers will join other celebrities, rescue workers, and everyday citizens to re-record the 1979 hit "We Are Family."
Taking control of the project is Nile Rodgers, the producer and songwriter who wrote the original tune for Sister Sledge over 20 years ago. "It hit me like a flash," Nile told Entertainment Tonight. "That's what this song was written for—to bring people together...the emergency workers, the firefighters, the Red Cross, the surgeons...we have all of these people—their spirit is undeniable."
Joey McIntyre, Taye Diggs, Macaulay Culkin, Deborah Gibson, and Ananda Lewis, among others, will be recording the song this weekend in New York City and Los Angeles. "We Are Family" will soon be available at a record store near you with all profits going to various charities, including the American Red Cross.
