  L.A. County Dept. of Public Works Partners with Santa Monica Place
   to Feature Live Concert, Educate Youth about Pollution Prevention

WHAT:      Entertainment and education come together this month
           to deliver pollution prevention messages to Santa
           Monica-area youth and their families. The Los
           Angeles County Department of Public Works and Santa
           Monica Place have teamed up to create a live,
           interactive concert -- using exciting music and
           educational messages to challenge youngsters to
           improve the environment.

WHO:       The Santa Monica Place concert will feature teen pop
           sensation groups, "Nobody's Angel" and "LMNT" and
           appearances from "Polly Ethylene" -- a favorite character
           from L.A. County's Environmental Defenders Program.
           Autograph sessions will also be available after
           the concert.

WHEN:      Sunday, March 17, 2002 - 1:00 P.M.

BACKGROUND:
           The Environmental Defenders program is part of Los
           Angeles County's comprehensive elementary school
           environmental outreach program, which has reached
           nearly 1.5 million Los Angeles County children with
           messages about the Three R's -- Reduce, Reuse and
           Recycle!

           The environmental concert will also tour select
           local elementary schools through March 15, 2002 to
           further educate children about pollution prevention.
