Chapter 12 Caitlin had began crying at one point, I'm not sure what caused it. It was probably just all the pressure that came with all of this. Officer Hudson hadn't come back yet and in a way I was glad that he hadn't, but on the other hand, I wanted to know what went down over where he went and if Nick was okay. Nick's being okay was my main concern and being treated the way that I was wasn't helping my case any. I hadn't heard from officer Davis yet and I was hoping that things were going okay and she was getting Hudson off of the case. Caitlin had agreed with me about getting Hudson off the case when me and AJ returned, not like she didn't agree before we left anyway. I could tell that he was making her uncomfortable. Just the way he acted gave me a funny feeling that I still wasn't sure how to deal with. AJ hadn't said much which was really surprising because he always went on about anything. I wish he was doing that now because it would bring some more comfort into the picture. Boredom was starting to sink in. There was really nothing to do but wait for what seemed like a damned eternity for something to happen. I doubted that talking would help at this point because we all were confussed, I could tell. It was written on all of our faces for the entire world to see. My head was killing me from thinking where Nick was at that exact moment. I had even began to wonder if he was even alive at this point. Everything else just seemed improbable now. At least before we had hope. That hope was now slowly dying for all of us. While we continued to wait for anything, I told myself to never stop looking for Nick if we didn't get him back. Even if he was dead, I want him back. He desirves a proper funeral. Funeral, how hurtful the word really is, is just impossible to put into words. I know it was meant for a final good-bye and to show the importance of the persons life, but it still hurt like hell to have to be thinking about. I wasn't ready to say good-bye and neither was Caitlin or the other guys. It just wasn't fair that Nick had been taken from us in the way that he was. He was so young and he had so much going for him. His career was peeking and he was about to have a family, it hurts. "Miss. Miller, Mr. Littrell," officer Davis said stepping into the room and pulling me out of my thoughts. "Yes," I said shooting up from the chair. "I have some news for you, but who are those gentalmen?" she asked glancing at AJ and Howie. "Oh, that's Mr. McLean and Mr. Dorough. They are very close to Caitlin and I as well as Nick," I told her. "Alright. Nice meeting you gentalmen," she said shaking their hands. Much better, I thought. "I talked to my boss about Hudson. It took a lot of convincing but he is officially off your case." "Thank you so much for your help," Caitlin said. "That's not it, there's more, but I think Mr. Littrell, you are going to want to sit down for this," she said looking at me. I felt my heart beginning to race a million miles an hour when I took my seat, "I'm going to confirm your suspisions about Hudson, there is something majorly wrong with him." "What?" AJ yelled. "AJ calm down so we can find out what's wrong," I said shooting him a glance that caused him to freeze everything. "For starters, his name's not Hudson," my face turned pale when she said that I didn't know what to make of it, "his real name is Adam Talior. He's wanted for attempted murder in New York City." "Then how the fuck did he got a job as a police officer?" AJ yelled. "Mr. McLean, we really don't know. He probably had some kind of connection to get him in. No one would ever think to look in a police station for him," she answered him. "How come anyone didn't recognize him?" I asked softly. "We weren't informed about him. When he came in here on the first day he said he was sent by someone and my boss just hired him because he knew the person that sent him." "How did you find out who he was?" Howie asked. "Background check. There are no records of him even existing up until about a year and a half ago. That sent someone off right away. We sent a picture through the computer to see if we had anyone with at least a smiliar profile in our records. It was a perfect match for Adam Talior." "So is Nick dead?" Caitlin asked. "Most likely," she answered, "since you guys haven't recieved any sort of ransom call there is really no reason for him to have been kept alive." My heart shattered into a million pieces when I saw Caitlin burst into uncontrollable tears. I looked over at AJ who's eyes were now bloodshot and filled with tears. That was the first time I'd ever seen him cry. Howie had his head down, probably crying as well. "What are you going to do when he gets back?" I asked holding back my own tears. "Arrest him in conjuction with Nicks dissapearance. Since we have no proof that he's dead, we can't charge him with that murder just yet, but we do know he's involved in many others," she replied softly, "I just want to say how sorry I am you guys. Just don't give up just yet, there still might be a chance." "I just have one more question," I said to her. "Alright, shoot," she answered. "What about Jordon? How is he involved in all of this?" "We don't know that yet either. Since we have a confession that he did attack Nick, we have enough to keep him here so that we can find that out." I nodded, I wasn't ready to say anything else. Officer Davis stepped out of the room we were in. That was when I felt a tear roll down my cheek, Nick was really gone. Chapter 13 Table Of Contents Home |
