Jen bit her lip nerviously as she pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. What the hell was she doing there? Nick was the last person that she wanted to see, but she found herself wanting to be there. Something was pulling her there.
She began to walk into the hospital. The fact she was even there amazed herself. Nick was the reason she lost her baby. Jen couldn't figure out why, but she kind of felt bad for Nick.
Jen continued to walk down the hallway of the hospital. After a few minutes of walking through the hallway she saw Howie waiting outside Nicks room not really paying much attention to anything.
"Howie," Jen said softly.
"Jen? I can't believe you're here," he said shocked.
"Well neither can I, but I'm here."
"You know he's awake right?"
"Yeah I was on the phone with Brian and he told me," Jen said.
"Oh, do you want to talk to him?"
"Yeah may as well or this would be a wasted trip," she said.
"Okay, lets go inside," he said walking to the room. Jen walked in behind Howie and both Nick and Brian looked at her in shock.
"Jen," Nick said.
"Hi, Nick," she said.
"Did you talk to AJ?" Brian interupted.
"Yeah. I don't think either of us had as much to say to each other than we thought we did."
"Sorry to hear that," Brian said with a hint of guilt in this voice.
"Me too," Jen said.
"What happened?" Nick asked.
"AJ and I broke up," Jen answered bitterly. Nick just looked at her, he still couldn't believe that she was even there.
"Oh," he said and paused, "Jen I'm sorry. Not just about AJ, but about me being a jerk."
"Nick, I've heard this all before. You apologise, I accept, things seem alright and they are for awhile, but then something happens and it's all over," Jen said trying not to cry.
"Yeah, that's always what seems to happen huh?"
"We're gonna leave you two alone," Brian said pulling Howie out of the room.
"Nick, what am I supposed to do? This is really hard for me. I can either forgive you and move on or I can forget all about you and act like we were never a couple," Jen said looking at Nick's bruised face.
"You can do whatever you want to. I just want you to know that I'm sorry. You don't have to accept it,, I don't expect you to."
"Nick I want to forget all about you. I want to act like you don't exsist, but I can't. I can't because everytime I look at Anthony, I see you. He looks so much like you that it's almost impossible to forget you. Not only that, but when I look at him, I know that he might not know his father. That's not something that I want him to worry about," Jen said looking out the window.
"So are you saying that you want me around?" Nick asked confussed.
"I don't know what I'm saying. Anthony is way to young to make a decision, he can't even talk."
"I really don't know what to tell you."
"Yeah, I figured as much. I came here to give you a piece of my mind, just not this part. I wanted to tell you how much pain you caused me, I wanted you to know everything about how I was feeling. I wanted you to know that because of you, I miscarried."
"Why didn't you? I desirve it, you know that I do. So just give it to me," Nick said looking as Jen. She just looked at him without saying anything. Nick waited, he was prepared for just about anything she was going to say.
"I love you," she said shocking Nick.
"What?"
"I don't know why but I do. I guess I'm just stupid."
"Don't Jen. I know you don't so please.."
"Nick, I'm not crazy, well maybe I am, but what am I supposed to do?"
"Leave."
"What?"
"Just leave. You'll thank me," Nick said looking at Jen who didn't move, "GO!"
Jen left the room without as much as looking back. She walked right passed Brian and Howie who were trying to ask her what happened. She ignored them and continued to walk.
Brian quickly turned back to Nicks room and went in. Nick looked at Brian. Than seconds later, Howie appeared at the door in wonder.
"What happened?" Brian asked.
"Nothing," Nick said.
"Come on, Jen ran out of here so fast, what did you guys talk about?" Brian wondered.
"Look, just forget about it. It was nothing to be worried about."
