*~*~*The next night~*~*~
Nicole looked at herself in the mirror and she felt wrong. She was a mother of a baby boy, maybe she shouldn't be doing this, dating. The word almost scared her, she had never dated anyone but Nick and that was another story, they had been friends first. Just then her doorbell rang and she knew that it was this guy the Kelly had hooked her up with.
When Kelly had called earlier, she told her that he was a bit older, but it was only a year, which made him twenty. Kelly told her that he was a college student, and he was very intellegent and very good looking. She had told her that she had set everything up for tonight, Nicole had just hoped that Nick wouldn't call while she was gone or she would have a lot of explaining to do.
As Nicole headed down stairs she saw him sitting on the couch, her mother asking him questions. The usual, when are you going to bring my daughter back, where are you going, stuff like that. Nicole took a deep breath and walked into the livingroom.
"Well, I'm going to go now," her mom said turning her attention to Nicole. He stood up and smiled at her. She looked at him, Kelly was right, he was hot.
"Hey Nikki!!," he said handing her a flower, "this is you you."
"JOSH??? OH MY GOD!! Thank you," she said and smiled at his sweetness, she was even slightly blushing at him. She was totally surprised that Kelly had hooked her up with her ex.
"You ready to go?"
"Yes," she said and smiled as he took her hand in his.
*~*~*Meanwhile~*~*~
"Are you sure I'm doing the right thing?" Nick asked.
"Yes, look you have to get over Nicole," AJ said, "and Stacy is a great place to at least get started."
"It's just a little weird."
"Thats 'cause Nicole was the only one you've been with, get out there, see other people. I know that she's probably doing the same."
"I still love Nicole."
"Yeah, well, shes in New York and we're in Florida. We've got the group and a lot of things to do, you know as well as I do that since she is so far away it wouldn't have worked out."
"It would have worked out."
"Then why aren't you two together?" Nick didn't know what to say. He knew that he had a point, but on the other hand, they knew that they wouldn't have time for each other. Just then they heard the door bell ring.
"Thats her," AJ said, "At least act like your having a good time."
"Fine." AJ went to get the door. "Stacy!! How have you been?"
"Great, how about you?"
"Peachy," AJ smiled motioning for her to come in, "This is Nick," he said pointing to Nick who was standing there smiling, she was beautiful, Nick thought.
"Hi Nick," she said smiling.
"Hi," he said returning her smile.
"Well, you two better get going," AJ said smiling, he saw that Nick had liked her already.
"Yeah," Nick said still looking at Stacy. She smiled.
"Lets go!" she said and her and Nick headed out the door.
*~*~*Meanwhile~*~*~
"Wow, you're amazing," Josh said.
"Thanks," Nicole said blushing again.
"I can't believe how beautiful you've gotten." Nicole smiled.
"Josh stop!!! This is embarrssing me!." Josh laughed.
"So what was your last relationship like?"
"Well, what can I say really other than I was in love with him."
"What happened?"
"I had to move. A long distance relationship wouldn't work out and we both knew it. Kind of like me and you."
"Oh, but it could work if you really wanted it to."
"He is really busy. He has a lot going on in his life and I didn't want to be a distraction."
"You could never be a distraction."
"I just didn't want to hold him back," she said after a moment of silence.
"Well, his loss is my gain, I guess."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean I ended up being with you again, I really think you are a great girl. I would love to see you again, if you would like to see me again," he said noticing that it was getting late.
"Yeah I would, but there is something that you have to know if you want to keep seeing me," she said. She may as well be honest and up front with Josh.
"Whats that?"
"I have a son."
"You do?"
"Yeah, and if you don't want to see me again now that you know, I understand because I know if I was in your possistion, I wouldn't want to see me again either."
"No, I would still love to see you again."
"Really?"
"Yes." Nicole felt great. It was like he was the perfect guy. He had been nothing but a gentelmen the whole night and now, knowing that she had a baby, was still willing to date her. This was amazing.
*~*~*Back with Nick~*~*~
"People think that just because I am a BackStreet Boy, I am happy all the time and that I have this perfect life, but I don't. I mean I can't do anything normal. I can't walk down the street without someone coming up to me. I never went to high school which sucks because I'm not going to have those memories," Nick said.
"Yeah, but you've achieved what people who graduated high school and even college will never be able to. Your music has touched the heart of so many people and how many people can claim that before they were even old enough to drink that they have inspired millions?" Stacy said.
"Yeah thats true. Its just a lot of people think that just because I'm famous I can have anything I want."
"I guess some people don't know the truth. You're a great guy, I'm really surprised that you aren't seeing anyone."
"I was, well we broke up a year ago, shes still in my life though. Shes one of my best friends."
"Thats cool, proof that guys and girls can be friends even after they broke up."
"Yeah."
"Did you love her?"
"Very much."
"Love is a rare thing these days. What happened?"
"She moved and she didn't think a long distance relationship would work out. I guess she was right, I've hardly talked to her."
"Yeah long distance relationships are tough. You have to constantly be calling them and when you need the other person to be by yourside, they can't be because they are too far away. You don't have their shoulder to cry on when you need to."
"So you've had one?"
"Yeah, it didn't last too long, a couple of months maybe."
"So do you think me and this girl did the right thing?"
"Yes, but enough about that, do you like me?"
"Yeah, you're a great girl."
"Good, because I really like you and I am going to kiss you and I just wanted to make sure there were no objections."
"None," he said as she leaned in and kissed him. At first he felt wrong like this was wrong, but then it felt right.
*~*~*Later that Night~*~*~
Nicole and Josh walked up to Nicoles door. She had a huge smile on her face and she was glad that this night went so well, and she was also amazed that he was so supportive about the fact that she had a son.
"Nicole," he said as they reached her door.
"Yeah?" she said.
"Can I meet your son?" he asked.
"He's probably sleeping now and I don't want to wake him because its hard to get him to sleep."
"Oh, ok. How about tomrrow?"
"Why do you want to meet him so badly?"
"Because I really like you and I figure that if I am going to be in your life I may as well accept your son and maybe give him a father figure."
"God, this is too perfect. Whats your deal?" Nicole asked.
"Nothing. I just think you're a great girl and I want to keep seeing you," he said. Nicole smiled, she knew that she had found someone that she could really enjoy being with other than Nick.
"Thank you," she said. He smiled at her.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked throwing Nicole totally off guard, but she was glad that he asked.
"Yeah, I would like that," she said as she leaned in and they met in a magical kiss. Finally, after a few moments, they pulled apart.
"I had a great time, I hope you did to," he said knowing that she had to go inside.
"I did."
"Great, so I'll see you tomrrow?"
"Yeah," she said and smiled as she opened the door and went inside.
"How did it go?" her mom asked smiling as Nicole came into the living room.
"Great," Nicole said still smiling.
"Did you tell him about Steven?"
"Yes."
"So?"
"He didn't seem to mind. He still wanted to see me again, he even wanted to meet him."
"Wow, lucky."
"Yeah."
"So you're seeing him again?"
"Yeah tommrrow."
"That's good for you!!" her mom said and smiled at her.
"Well, I'm going to go upstairs and thank Kelly like crazy then go to bed."
"Alright," her mom laughed, "night."
"Night mom," she said heading up the stairs, she walked into her room and Steven was sound asleep. She smiled at him knowing that he was going to be ok, he was going to have a man in his life even if it wasn't his father.
Just as Nicole went to call Kelly, the phone rang. 'It has to be kelly calling to be noisey' Nicole thought to herself as a smiled spread across her face.
"Hello Kel?" she said.
"Who's Kel?" the voice said, it was Nick.
"Nick, Im so sorry I thought it was my friend Kelly," she said a little bit embarrassed.
"Oh, I just wanted to tell you that I met someone."
"Whats that supposed to mean?"
"It means I have a girlfriend now."
"Ok, I just got home from a date myself and I really like this guy so I guess that means I'm taken too."
"Do you think we can still be friends?"
"Yes of course. Nick I need me and you to stay friends, I don't know what I would do without you."
"So how did your date go?" he asked.
"Great actually. How 'bout yours?"
"Great too."
"Good I'm glad."
"Well I was just calling to let you know that I'm seeing someone and I am glad that you are seeing someone too. I have to go, c-ya," Nick said and Nick hung up.
"Who were you talking to?" Stacy asked walking into Nicks bedroom, she had seen him hanging up the phone.
"No one," he said.
