Chapter 9 *~*~A year later*~*~ Nicole sat on a chair in her room, watching her son sleep. She still couldn't believe that a little less than three months ago, this baby came into her life. She was still scared about this whole thing. She wasn't ready to be a mother, she was only 19. When her son had been born she had regreted not telling Nick because she knew that he would have wanted to be there for that. It was too late to tell him now. She had kept it secret for too long and to suddenly tell him, would be wrong. It hurt her the most to look at her son and see how much he already looked like Nick. That was killing her inside, she hadn't even talk to Nick in 4 months. She missed him, she wanted to talk to him. Then Nicole decided to call Nick and see what he was up to. She walked over to the phone and took a deep breath and dialed in Nicks cell phone number. After it rang a few times Nick answered. "Hello?" he said. "Nick, it's Nicole." "Nicole!!! How have you been? I haven't talked to you in months! I was beginning to think you forgot about me!!" "How could I forget you? How come you haven't called me?" "Sweetie, look, I've been really busy other wise you know that I would have called you. You know that." "Yeah. I love you Nick." "I love you too. You don't know how glad I am just to hear your voice again. I really miss you." "I miss you too." "So, what have you been up to?" "Nothing really, I've been hanging out with some people," she lied. "Great." "What about you?" "I've been really busy with the group. 'Millennium' was just released so we have a lot to do. We're getting ready for a tour. Thats where I am right now. We're taking a break for a few minutes. Then its back to rehursing." "Your busy huh?" "Yeah more than ever." "Well, then I will let you go." "Alright. I love you and I miss you, I'll see you." "I love you too, bye," she said and hung up the phone. She went and sat on the bed and looked over at her son, who she named Steven. She wanted him to know his father so she decided to keep a scrapbook all about Nick. In it was stuff he had done with the BackStreet Boys and pictures of her and him. She brought their CDs to play for Steven so that he could hear his fathers voice. She also brought their homevideos so that her son could watch his father. Anything BSB was on, she brought it and she taped everything that they were on tv. Nicole didn't know what to do. She wanted to bring Nick into this childs life. It was hard to believe that she had not told Nick, considering she was always able to tell Nick anything. She just figured that this was one of those things that she couldn't tell him, she loved him too much. She didn't want to ruin his life. Nicole felt an overwhelming sence of sad over come her. Nick meant everything to her and they were drifting future apart. They both felt it, and they knew that it was the distance. She wished that they could be closer together, but on the other hand, if she still lived in Florida, Nick would have known about the baby. As Nicole stared out the window, her mind began to wander. She remembered all the good times that her and Nick had. Nicole was still very much in love with him and still wanted to be with him, but she couldn't. She just hoped that Nick would come to New York soon so that she could see him. *~*~*~Meanwhile*~*~*~ Down in Florida were the BackStreet Boys were rehursing for their Millenium tour, Nick had something on his mind other than learning the dance steps. "Nick whats wrong man?" Brian asked. "Nothing why?" he asked back. "Well, you've been messing up the moves a lot more than usual, ya know what I'm sayin?" "Yeah, well it's just been a bad day." "Why?" "What do you mean why?" "What happened to make it a bad day." "I don't know, its just been one of those days." "So, have you talked to Nicole lately?" Brian asked trying to change the subject. "Yeah, she called earlier." "How's she been?" "Alright, but I get the feeling that shes hiding something from me," Nick admited. "Like what?" "I don't know." "I think she would tell you if something was up." "Yeah, I know, but how come I feel like theres something more?" "You're just crazy." "Seriously, I think somethings up." "Where did you get a crazy idea like that anyway?" "In her voice, she sounded like she knew more than what she was telling me." "Like what?" "I don't know." "Well forget about it for now. We have things to do, when we finish here, call her and see whats up." "Alright." Chapter 10 |
