What an angel.

Her little face lit up, all blonde haired and cherub eyed. He didn't think he'd fall in love again, until he saw her.

Ashley.

Cutie.

He picked her up and placed her on his knee, holding her close to him so she could hear his heart beating. Her tiny fingers curled around his hand, as though she were clinging to him for love and for comfort. He was so glad he could offer her both.

"Can you hear it, Ashley?" he asked her softly, and she giggled. Her laugh sounded like tinker-bells chiming inside of her soft baby lips.

"Yes. I can hear it. It's clapping."

He melted at the sound of her innocent voice, and the happiness that was shining through.

Little angel. Little sweetheart.

"Will mine sound the same, Brian?" she asked, her eyes filled with childish wonder, as though she were asking 'is Santa Claus still coming?'. He smiled at her and gave her one of his famous B-Rok winks.

"Sure it will, honey. Just like mine."

"And when it does, does that mean that we'll be friends forever?"

So hopeful. So charming. So devoid of anything bad. So untouched.

"Yes it does, Ashley. Friends forever. I promise."

He placed the flowers on her beautifully kept grave, and wiped a tear away from his blue eyes. Teddy bear shaped, with angel's wings, and made especially for a little princess; a little cherub. Little Ashley.

"Friends forever, just like I promised.", he said, before poignantly walking away, and back to his life.

From where she was watching amongst the stars, little Ashley smiled.

She could comfort him, now.
