Ready? Let's get started!

1. Open your image and mask in PSP. Make a copy of your image (Shift+D) and close the original. We will be working with the copy of the graphic. Minimize both the graphic and the mask for now.

2. Open a new image (File/New) 400w x 500h transparent background. Set your background color to #80482D. Grab your bucket tool and floodfill your new image with the background color.

3. Masks/New From Image. From the drop down menu under the Source Window select the "leaves at the corner" mask.

4. Selections/From Mask. Selections/Float. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity=85; Blur=5; Vertical=3; Horizontal=3. Repeat cutout using the same setting except change the vertical and horizontal setting to -3.

5. Selections/Select None. Masks/Delete. Merge into current layer? YES. With your magic wand (tolerance 10 feather 0), click in the center transparent area of your mask (See example below). Selections/Modify/ Expand by 1.

6. Layers/New Raster Layer. Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom. This layer should be under your mask layer and should be your active layer. Bring up your graphic and go to Edit/Copy. You can go ahead and close your graphic as we won't be needing it anymore. Make your mask image active and go to Edit/Paste Into Selection. Selections/Invert. Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity=100; Blur=15; Vertical=3; Horizontal=3. Repeat your drop shadow but change the vertical and the horizontal settings to -3. Selections/Select None.

7. Layer/New Raster Layer. Layers/Arrange/Send to Bottom. With your dropper tool, select a color for your background from the graphic you are using. I am using color #B2A064. Click on your bucket and floodfill your layer with the background color you chose. Effects/Texture Effects/Texture using these settings: Texture=sand; Size=40; Smoothness=0; Depth=1; Ambience=0; Shinniness=0; Angle=315; Intensity=50; Elevation=30; Color=white. Layers/Merge/Merge All (Flatten).

8. Change your background color to white (#FFFFFF). Go to Image/Add Borders 8 pixels symmetric checked. With your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0), click on your white border to select. Set your foreground color to #000000 and your background color to #B2A064. Click on the arrow on the background style box, and from the box that pops up, select gradient.

9. From the gradient dialog box select foreground/background gradient using these settings: Linear gradient; Angle 0; Repeat 1. You may or may not have to check invert gradient. You want the goldish color gradient to be in the middle of the frame and the black color gradient to be at the top and bottom.

10. Click on your bucket tool and floodfill your selected border with your gradient. Effects/PluginFilters/Filter Factory A/Pool Shadow using the settings shown below:

11. Selections/Invert. Effects/3D Effects/Cutout using these settings: Opacity=85; Blur=5; Vertical=3; Horizontal=3. Repeat the cutout except change the vertical and horizontal settings to -3. Selections/Select None.

12. Change your background from gradient to color. Set your background to white (#FFFFFF) and go to Image/Add Borders 25 pixels symmetric checked. With your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0), click on the white border to select. Change your background color back to #B2A064, grab your bucket tool, and floodfill your selected border. Effects/PluginFilters/Toadies/Blast'nBlur using these settings: X-effect=222; Y-effect=222. Do not deselect.

17. Set your background color to white (#FFFFFF). Image/Add Borders 5 pixels symmetric checked. With your magic wand (tolerance 0 feather 0), click on your white border to select. Change your background color back to #B2A064 and your foreground color to #000000. Click on the arrow on the background styles box and switch back to gradients, using same settings as before. With your bucket tool, floodfill your selected border with your gradient. Effects/ PluginFilters/Filter Factory A/Pool Shadow using same settings as before. (see below)

18. Selections/Select None. If you want to add the corner dings to your frame, continue on to the next step. If not, then your frame is finished. You may need to resize it; if so, don't forget to go to Effects/Sharpen/Sharpen after you resize. Save your framed image and you are finished.

19. Layers/New Raster Layer. I used my frame gradient as my background color and set my foreground color to null. Click on your text tool to bring up your text box. Select the corner ding you want to use from the drop down window. I am using DBL Corners Cap Letter O Size 72 floating checked antialias checked.

20. Position your ding on the left corner of your frame. Effects/3d Effects/Drop Shadow using these settings: Opacity=100; Blur=2; Vertical=1; Horizontal=1. Deselect. Go to your layer palette, right click on your ding layer, and select "duplicate" from the box that appears. Make sure your duplicate ding layer is your active layer, then go to Image/Mirrow. You should now have a ding on the right corner of the frame. Your duplicated ding layer should be your active layer. Right click on that layer, select duplicate, and you will now have a copy of the duplicate layer of the ding. Now go to Image/Flip. You should have a ding on the bottom right corner of the frame. Go back to your layer palette, right click on that layer, select duplicate, and then go to Image/Mirror. You should now have a ding on the left bottom corner of the frame. Layers/Merge/Merge All (Flatten). Resize if needed, sharpen after resizing, and save. Woila, your frame is completed.
