![]() ![]() We had four people that first trip in 1983; we had about 25 last year, down from a high of about 35 in our group in 1994. But we don't mind, we still have a great time. Slink Shoals is large enough to hold several (10-15) groups of campers. The Buffalo River is a beautiful place for anyone who likes nature. Just a word of warning though - on holidays the stream is packed with boats and rowdy partiers. It is a great time if you like a good time crowd. If you would rather canoe in a peaceful, serene environment, try any other weekend of the year or another part of the river away from the commercial Flatwoods area. The river is always quiet and peaceful then and it is a beautiful place to get away. Click here for an aerial view of the river from Slink Shoals to the Bell Bridge.
