MISS CONGENIALITY wins over CBS NEW YORK (Variety) - Sandra Bullock's ``Miss Congeniality'' has won over CBS and Turner's TBS and TNT, which have bought the hit Warner Bros. movie along with two other WB titles, ``Proof of Life'' and ``Pay It Forward,'' for a combined license fee of about $40 million. Neither WB nor Turner would comment on the deal, which favors TBS and TNT (sister companies of Warner Bros.) because they will get the first runs of ``Congeniality,'' ``Proof'' and ``Forward'' in a six-month window, beginning in the summer of 2003. CBS then steps in for an exclusive term of 18 months to play two primetime runs of each of the three movies. After the CBS term, TBS and TNT will take over the titles for multiple runs over the next 3-1/2 years. As usual, before getting to the network window, all of the WB movies will run exclusively on HBO for 18 months, starting late in 2001. All of the broadcast networks were interested in ``Miss Congeniality,'' the one big hit among the group. CBS ended up with broadcast rights because it was willing to buy ``Proof of Life'' and ``Pay It Forward,'' which will be playable on Sunday night, where CBS has established a successful movie franchise.
