| Border Crossing Procedures: updated May 2008 The Border is closed since Feb 2007, otherwise following procedures apply: A 1-day-pass (you have to return by 1700) is currently issued by the Immigration Authorities. The cost for the pass is 10 USD paid, in US currency only, to the Burmese Immigration (occasionally they accept 500 Baht, which is 16 USD). Thai Immigration Procedures are free of charge. The Thai Immigration at the border does keep your passport (ID Card for Thais) though. Your Thai Visa will NOT loose validity because of your visit to Burma, nor is your passport stamped or your visa extended or renewed ! Your passport will be kept by the Immigration while you visit Burma. Information on this page is updated frequently and the above info is released by Sangkhlaburi Immigration Office. You also need 1 passport picture for the Immigration procedures. That can be done at the border for 120 Baht. Last but not least: DO NOT cross the border other than at the checkpoint !!!! Please be also aware that the border might close from one day to the other due to political tension. Such a situation can never be foreseen. |
