... and his staff did & do a great job in an area badly effected by Malaria and other tropical diseases.. |
The hospital has initially been established in 1960 in order to serve communities along the rugged Thai-Burma border. KRHC is also a research center for the study of malaria and other tropical diseases, in cooperation with AFRIMS - Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences. Between 1979 and 2002 Dr. Philip McDaniels - locals know him as "Maw Phil" - was the director of the hospital, and much of the time, its only doctor, before he went back to the US with his family. |
Who is served by the hospital ? The hospital's patients are from diverse ethnic groups on both sides of the border. Around 5,000 to 10,000 people in surrounding communities are served by this hospital. A nearby United Christian School gives education to over 300 children, and about 44 of these students live in the Christian Boarding House. Many of the former students have gone on to college and have later returned to serve the community. Many projects have been set up by Maw Philip and his team, all projects that support children and people in need. Do contact the Hospital if you want to get more infor or make a contribution to their work. Thank You ! |
