Though it belongs to the Mon culture, Wat Wang Wiwekaram is of importance to Thai pilgrims and their spiritual life. Many Thais travel to Sangkhlaburi to visit the temple.
The temple itself features beautiful wood carvings and an ancient white marble Buddha statue that was once carried up from Burma.
Next to the golden stupa of Wat Wang Wiwekaram is a market where local Mon merchants sell souvenirs, wooden handicraft, cloth, blankets, (fake..) jewellery and many other things to visitors. The market is open daily from around 0830 to 1700.
