Fall Season 2000
"Who's
on top? We know!!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike H. (Lamont Luckyboys),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
November 11th - After the longest break in PP League history, the Fall Season 2000 continues on as "The Luckiest Man in the World" or Mike H. leads the Luckyboys into thier first contest of the season. But it was the Funboys who took an early lead and stormed into the playoffs in a commanding fashion. Poor Robert couldn't catch a break and his Outpatients only one win. Ross faired a little better as his Windjammers won four games, but couldn't catch the Lucky ones for the right to face the Funboys in the Championship series. Mr. Lucky managed to win the first game, but lost the next four straight as Ken's team won it's first game of the season.

"Soul
Survivor!!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
August 23rd - A new season, a new game of Power Play. After getting squashed in Titan: The Arena, I was looking forward to competing in this game. And so the Funboys did. Fresh off their close, but clear win for the Y2K Summer Season championship. Ken's team dominated this game with a goon-laden, yet talented team. His string of victories included a perfect 6 - 0 triumph over the Ballbreakers, a first for our league. The Windjammers made a strong run for second. Mike's team & the Outpatients couldn't manage more than one victory each and so duked it out for third place. Unfortunately for the Ballbreakers, they lost 4 -1 despite help from a forfeit (Robert forgot to replace a player and thus was penalized for it). The Funboys were looking forward to defending their championship, but the Windjammers came out on top. Congrats to Ross on getting the first win of the Fall season.

"DOUBLEHEADER
FRIDAY!!"
GAME ONE
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike H. (Lamont Luckyboys),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
June 23rd - With Mr. Lucky wanting to qualifiy for the Summer Season championship before returning to his domicile in Ridgerunner Country, we decided to play two games tonight. This will probably be the last time we do a doubleheader since there are other games in this world to play. Anyhoo, the first contest was a barnburner all the way as all four teams won at least six games. The Funboys managed to reach the playoffs, leaving the Luckyboys & Windjammer to play a Best of Five eliminator for second place. The Luckyboys lived up to their name and swepted all three games, then pounded the Funboys in four straight to win the game outright.

GAME TWO"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Mike H. (Lamont Luckyboys), Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson
Windjammers)
June 23rd - With Mike (Ballbreakers) arriving, we began our second
game. Mr. Lucky started challenging everyone in sight since he wanted
to leave before dawn. Despite his efforts, the game stalled out about
2/3rds the way through when everyone started drafting and trading with
abandon. The Funboys, Ballbreakers, & Windjammers actually used
up thier nine drafts.
The Windjammers benefited the most and wound up in the playoffs.
For the first time in league history, there were two Best of Five series
for ranking. The Outpatients squeeked past the Funboys three games
to two and avoided last place. While the Ballbreakers smacked the Luckyboys
three games to one to face the Windjammers for the championship.
The lengthy rest didn't do the Windjammers and good as Mike won the Best
of Seven in six games to claim the title.

"Double
the Pleasure, double the Fun...Boys!!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Mike H. (Lamont Luckyboys), Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson
Windjammers)
June 22nd - The return of the "Lucky One" to the ranks of the Power Play league was met with cheers and trepidations by the rest of us. Anyway, the Luckyboys got off to a slow start, but finished strong enough to earn a third place rank. Despite Mike's fervent attempts at trading & drafting, the Ballbreakers could do no better than fourth. The Outpatients were a typically goon laden team with no big guns to get them above last place. Ross's team, the Windjammers, quickly grabbed the lead and never lost it. After stalling at eight wins, they were challenged by the surprisingly tough Funboys, who also had eight wins. The Windbreakers won rather easily and the Best of Seven ensued. However, in an ironic twist of fate, the combination of The Superstar and little Willie Winzig gave the Funboys team the edge they needed to win the championship in six games. Itty-bitty Willie Winzig was named Best of Seven series MVP by scoring against the Windjammers' goalie with the first shot in OT of the sixth & deciding game.

Ken Defeats Ross
4 - 2
June 14th - Hey, I saw this on Mannix once...oh. The second game of the season was attended by none other than Ozzy, which made this the first five player contest in PP league play. Unfortunately for Ozzy and Mike, they both languished near the bottom with teams that just couldn't seam to catch a break. Ross & Robert duked it out for a second place finish to the Funboys. Ken's team started strong and never looked back, although they did stall at eight wins (one short of the playoffs) long enough for Windjammers to surpass the Outpatients by one game and reach the finals. In another first for our league, the series went to the seventh game where the Funboys eeked out a 3 - 2 win in Overtime, no less. As it turned out, when The Windjammers lost The Superstar in game two, that eventually led to their demise.

"The Outpatients
rule the Ward!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
June 6th - June 5th, 1944...I was early...Oh, wait. The first game of the summer season got off to a bang when the Funboys, under the erratic leadership of Ken, streaked into the lead and never looked back. The Funboys won their every challenge and even destroyed the Outpatients 5 - 0 in the most lopsided game in PP history (so far). However, the game that sent Ken's team into the finals was also the game that took away his best players. Robert, whose team managed to eek past Mike's & Ross teams, took advantage of the situation and smacked the Funboys four games to two in an exciting final. This is Robert's first League win. Ross & Mike never could get the right drafts and had to settle for third and fourth place, respectively.

Spring Season 2000
"The Ballbreakers
win, but the Windjammers are King"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
May 4th - The final match of the Y2K Spring Season ended with a bang. The Funboys, battling for a first place finish, couldn't get the train rolling and were massacred by everyone for a last place finish. The Outpatients never could form a strong enough team to compete with the "big boys" and had to settle for third. The Windjammers were itching for a second straight victory to seal the Championship, but were suffering from the same fate as the Outpatients. However, Ross's effort's were enough to land him in the championship series against the Ballbreakers. Once again, Mike used up nearly all his trades and drafts, but was rewarded with a powerful team that went undefeated in the regular season (a first) and swept the Windjammers in the finals. It wasn't enough, however, to deny Ross the first ever Power Play League Championship.

"The Windjammers
Blow It...and Win"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
May 2nd - Women be different than men...oh, and another Power Play league game is in the books. This was perhaps the fiercest battle so far this season as all four teams were tied at six victories apiece. The Ballbreakers used up all of their drafts and trades, but simply couldn't get a player that would put them over the top. The Funboys, once again challenging everyone in sight, were wallowing in last until a couple of choice trades made them a monster. Unfortunately, it was not enough to get them into the championship series. The Ballbreakers & Funboys tied for last and the ensuing five game series was swept by Talala. The Outpatients, under the leadership of the Superstar, vaulted into second place as Chuck Norris' favorite team, the Windjammers, smashed their way into the playoffs. The seven game series was no contest. Despite the presence of the Superstar, the Windjammers swept it in four.

"Talala
or Bust!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Mike H. (Lamont Luckyboys)
April 25th - Oh what a night, tonight. As the Luckyboys
make their debut appearence in the PP League. Unfortunately for them, they
only won three games and tied the Outpatients for last. Resulting
in a five game playoff that the Luckyboys swept in three (including one
OT win) for third place. The Ballbreakers did very well, but
not as well as the Funboys, who had no problem winning nine games and forcing
a seven game championship series with the Ballbreakers. Both teams
were fairly evenly matched and the series was tied at 2 - 2 when the Funboys
won three straight to take the title. There was no joy in Luckyland
tonight, as mighty Mr. Lucky struck out.

"The Twister
hits with Authority!"
Teams: Ken (Talala Funboys), Mike (Boynton Ballbreakers),
Robert (Vinita Outpatients), Ross (Wilson Windjammers)
April 13th - Oh for the love of a woman...hey...I mean, oh what
a game we had tonight. Our second contest of the Spring Season featured
more high drama and suspense than expected. Ken, eager to repeat
his last victory, immediately challenged and defeated Robert. That
early victory was the last anyone heard from Ken as he only managed to
win two more games for a last place finish. Mike, Robert, & Ross
duked it out with abandon. At one time, all three were tied with
six victories apiece. But, it was Ross's gifted play, led by the
talented Superstar (forcebly traded from Ken's team...you bast..) that
landed him in the playoffs. Mike had managed to reach eight victories,
two ahead of Robert, and entered the seven game championship match to face
the vaunted Windjammer offence. But, as fate would have it, it was
Mike's goon Teddy that proved to be the decisive player. As he nailed
the Superstar to the boards and forced his early exit. Ross managed
to tie the series at 1 - 1 with an overtime victory, but it was not enough.
Mike swept the next three games for his first Power Play win.

"Opening Day"
Teams: Ross, Mike, Talala Funboys (Ken), & Robert
March 23rd- It was a bright, guilty world...oh wait, that's the beginning of "The Lady from Shanghai". The first game of our league was kicked off with the appearance of three veteran minor-league Slapshot players: Robert, Ken, & Ross. They were joined by Mike, a crafty, if somewhat inexperienced Power Play gamer. Ken's team quickly took the lead with a formidable team that included The Superstar. However, Ross & Robert quickly caught up and began drafting & trading with abandon. Mike played fairly well, but couldn't put together a strong enough team to seriously challenge the others. The acquisition of the Troll began the Funboys playoff run. Their drive stalled at eight wins when the Troll was taken out by another goon (courtesy of Robert). Ross's attempt to overtake Robert for second place stalled when Ken managed to draft two goons and bashed his way into the playoffs. The Funboys quickly won the first three games and was on verge of a sweep when The Superstar succumbed to one of Robert's goons. Although weakened, Ken's team was able to win the fifth game. Thus securing his place as the winner of the first Power Play League game.
