It was the year of the dragon, a year of an excrutiating presidential election for the U.S.  Survivor was king on the TV even if I personally knew no one that watched it, and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire started to lose its grip.   The Concorde crashed, Peace on Earth was never resolved, but more importantly, the apocalypse failed to occur, which was prophesized before modern civilization came to realization.  But who cares of world affairs when there's a full year of killer metal to dive into? That's what the 2000 Year In Review is here for...to reminisce over the cream of the crop from the landmark past 12 months in our favorite genre or to catch up with albums that were overlooked through the duration of the year.

So what has happened since 1999 came to a close?  Eternity X broke up, Timo Kotipelto was burned on stage during a much publicized live performance, bands switched labels, parted ways (Savatage lost Petrelli to Megadeth and Zak Stevens jumped ship right afterwards), and fought with each other (House of Lords controversy).   Yngwie Malmsteen lost another vocalist - this go-round it was Mark Boals leaving for the second time, and released a bomb on the day after Boals' departure. Iron Maiden dumped their load called "Brave New World" on an unsuspecting public which ate it up like it was the Next Best Thing.

For RainbowFlame's Metal Domain - this is our fourth Year In Review, and the best (and largest ever) I might add, with each contributer to the site getting their own page.   You can read their thoughts, comments, and picks - and it's easy to switch to the next page as there is an index of the pages available in this feature at the very top of each webpage.  I'd like to thank Andy, Ilya, Jeffery, Joseph and Torgeir for their help in making this one of, if not the best, place on the net for metal reviews on the net.  Here's hoping 2001 is as fruitful and fun for us all as 2000 was.

Oh and I'm sure that it's no mystery what the true album of the year is... read all of our lists and see what was picked at number one in almost every case... amazingly, we didn't consult each other over composing our top tens... It is a true accomplishment for this outfit that this one disc in particular could win the hearts of so many from all over the world.  Kudos for the band that did it... which are we talking about? Read our selections and find out...
