"Well, here we are," AJ murmured as they pulled into the driveway of his house. House really isn't the word to describe what really looked more like a mansion. Although it was a little smaller than the usual mansion, it was still larger than a normal house. A multi-story, stucco type house surrounded by various types of tropical vegetation. The windows were protected by black iron hurricane bars, that were bent and twisted into different shapes. The walkway to the front door was surrounded on either side by small yellow flowers. The horseshoe shaped driveway, curved around a marble fountain. The center of the fountain was two child-size cherubs, the water coming from their small cupped hands.
"This is beautiful," Kyndall breathed. "And I thought Nick's house was nice," she said staring in awe.
"Come on. It's not THAT spectacular," he grinned, sliding her arm around her waist. He led her through the front door, holding it open so she could walk in first.
She looked around, once again stunned. The décor of the house was AJ. All AJ. Animal prints and black leather gave it a sophisticated and classy look. The furnishing was sparse, an overstuffed black leather couch sat along one wall, it's matching chair across from it. A long glass coffee table sat in between. A black wire-framed entertainment center sat along another wall, holding his stereo system and CD collection. There was a few pictures hanging on the wall, mostly black and white with splashes of red in them. "Nice," she smiled.
AJ shrugged, looking around the room. "Kind of impersonal," he smiled. "Come on," he said taking her hand. "TV's in the entertainment room."
Kyndall followed him down the hallway that was decorated a lot like the first room they'd entered. Walking into the entertainment room was like entering a completely different world. The other rooms were cold, detached, picture perfect. This one was well, used. Definitely lived in. AJ smiled as he seen her relax. "Sit down," he motioned to the couch. "I'm going to get us something to drink. Anything in particular you'd like?"
"Whatever," she smiled, walking over and looking at the movies on the shelf.
AJ watched her for a few moments, smiling as she scanned his library. He walked down the hall to the kitchen returning a few minutes later with two glasses and a bottle of wine. "I uh…hope you like wine," he said. "Only other thing I have to drink is beer or water."
Kyndall laughed. "Wine is fine. As long as I don't drink too much," she smiled.
"What happens when you drink too much?" AJ's eyes lit up with curiosity.
"Let's hope we don't find out," she laughed. "How about this?" she asked holding up Joe Vs. the Volcano.
"If ya want," he smiled as he sat the glasses and the bottle down on the table. She handed the movie to him as he walked by, and she went and got settled in one corner of the couch. AJ put the movie in the VCR and turned on the TV. Grabbing the remotes off the top of the TV, he turned off the light and walked back over and sat down in the center of the couch. "Hmmm," he murmured looking at her and then the empty spot next to him. Shrugging, he spun around so that his legs were hanging off the unoccupied side of the couch, and his head was laying in Kyndall's lap.
"Excuse you," she said looking down at him.
"Getting comfy," he said smiling at her.
"What about the wine?" she asked.
"Oh," he said looking over at it. Sitting up, he poured filled their glasses half-way, handing one to her. "I'm sorry for being a jerk. I'm sorry for hurting you. And I'd really like to start over. Not just as friends, but as more," he said looking deep in her eyes.
Kyndall looked at him, not sure what to say. "I…I would like to start over with you too. I…just…don't want to hurt anymore," she whispered.
"And I'll do my best not to," he said touching his glass to hers and taking a large gulp. She smiled hesitantly and took a small sip of hers, setting it down on the table. AJ sat his down beside hers, and resumed his previous position. "Ya really don't mind do ya?"
She shook her head as she played with his hair. "No. It's okay," she said softly.
