"Wanna come to the beach with me?" Catlyn asked looking over at Kyndall who was sitting in the chair watching TV. That was basically all her days consisted of since that last date with AJ. She sat there, sometimes reading, sometimes watching TV, but rarely moving. It had only been a couple of days, but Catlyn was starting to worry.
"No, that's okay," Kyndall said flatly. She didn't even bother looking up from the television.
Catlyn glanced at the TV. "Farscape? Does anyone else see a problem with this?"
"Huh?" Kyndall asked looking over at Catlyn.
"You're watching Farscape. You're not even watching that are you?" Catlyn asked walking over and standing in front of the television.
"What are you doing?" Kyndall asked.
"Proving a point. Kyn, you have to get out and do something. This isn't healthy. Sitting here staring at a television screen, or those books you read isn't going to make your problems go away."
"I know that Cat. I'm not expecting them to go away. I'm just trying to not think about them for a while," Kyndall said softly looking up at Catlyn. "I just don't want to deal with the real world right now. Now would you please move so that I can finish watching Farscape or whatever the hell you called it?"
Catlyn looked at Kyndall for a moment before sighing and stepping out of the way. "I'm going. I'll be back later," she said softly heading for the door. Before she opened it, the phone rang. Walking over, she picked it up. "Hello?"
"Cat? Howie. How are ya?"
"Oh. I'm doing okay," she said glancing over at Kyndall who seemed to not have even noticed that the phone rang.
"How's Kyndall doing?" he asked.
Catlyn shrugged. "Not too well. She refuses to leave the house. Claims she isn't ready to face the "real world" right now."
"Well, that's certainly not healthy," Howie said concerned.
"Yeah. That's what I told her. I don't know what to do. I know it's only been a couple of days, but I'm really starting to worry about her."
"Well, I called because I got reservations at The SAK Comedy Lab for tonite at 8:00, and I was wondering if she wanted to come along," he said nervously.
"Sounds like a great idea. I just don't know how you're gonna talk her into it," Catlyn smiled sadly.
"What?" Howie said his voice muffled. "I don't know," he told someone that was talking to him. "Hey Cat? Nick wants to talk to you," he said. She could hear some shuffling as he handed the phone over to Nick.
"Catlyn?" Nick asked.
"Yeah."
"Hey, it's Nick."
"Umm…I gathered," she teased him.
"Ha ha. I'm not amused," he said. She could tell he was smiling on his end.
"What do you want?" she asked pretending to be annoyed.
"Well, I had an extra ticket to the Comic Con here in Orlando that me and Brian were going to go to, but being that you're being a mean butt, I guess I'll just have to give it to someone else," he said matching her tone.
"Awww," she grinned. "I love you Nicky," she said sweetly.
"Yeah right," Nick murmured, smiling despite her use of that name he hated to hear. "Just meet us at Bri's house at 9," he said handing the phone back to Howie.
"Well, isn't he Mr. Rude butt?" Catlyn asked.
Howie laughed. "Yeah. There ya go. Grab something for Kyndall to wear to the club. Then drag her over to my house. Tell her that I want to see her before I leave, but my car is in the shop or something. I don't know. Anyway, then you can go over to Bri's and go out with him and Nick to the comic thingy."
"Sounds good cept I can't lie to her about your car," Catlyn said trying to come up with something to tell Kyndall to get her out the door to Howie's.
"You'll think of something. Thanks Cat," he said as they said goodbye and hung up the phone.
Catlyn looked down at her watch. "3:30," she murmured. "Hmmm…" she said thoughtfully as she walked back towards her bedroom to change clothes and go dig out something for Kyndall to wear. "Oh. By the way, we have to go to Orlando tonite," she said as she walked by Kyndall.
"Why?" Kyndall asked looking up at Catlyn.
"To say goodbye to Howie, duh," Catlyn said shaking her head. "He leaves the day after tomorrow."
"So why can't he come here to say goodbye?" Kyndall complained curling up into the chair and flipping through the channels of the TV with disinterest.
"Because he's…having a dinner with his parents and wants you to be there or something. I don't know. He didn't say why. He just wants to see you," Catlyn shrugged and started down the hallway to her bedroom.
"I still don't understand why he can't come here," Kyndall called as she slowly stood up and followed Catlyn. "I mean, what the hell am I going to say to his parents? I don't even know them."
"I don't even know if that's what he's doing," Catlyn shrugged going through her closet looking for something to wear. "What does one wear to a Comic Con?" she mumbled.
"Huh?" Kyndall asked sitting down on the bed.
"Oh, Nick and Brian want me to go to a comic convention with them," Catlyn said from the closet. "Hmm…what about this?" she said pulling out a pair of dark green Nike cargo type pants and a tight fitting white T-shirt. "This works."
"Nick and Brian?" Kyndall asked looking at her funny.
Catlyn nodded as she started digging through her shoes for her sneakers. "Where the hell did I put them?" she mumbled. Crawling over to the bed, she pulled them out from underneath. "Yeah. Brian and Nick. They had an extra ticket or something," she shrugged.
"So what am I suppose to wear?" Kyndall asked.
"I don't know. I think they're going some place nice. I'd wear a skirt."
Kyndall sighed as she got up and went into her room. Catlyn grinned as she heard Kyndall mumble, "I don't even know these people," as she started digging through her closet.
