"You looked good up there on stage," Kyndall smiled at AJ as they danced slowly to the music.
"Well, you looked good down there in front," he winked.
Kyndall laughed. "You're a nut."
"Only for you," he said softly pulling her closer. "Where's Catlyn?" he asked.
Kyndall shrugged. "Haven't seen her since we got here."
"Hmm…wait a second," he said looking over at a couple dancing closely in the corner. "Isn't that…and…no way," he shook his head.
"Oh god," Kyndall sighed. "Yeah. That's her."
"But that's…"
"Keebler," Kyndall finished.
"Keebler?" AJ asked.
Kyndall laughed. "Sorry. Catlyn's nickname for him. She can't…or couldn't stand him."
"Hmm…looks like she's standing him pretty well. Ouch," he chuckled as Kyndall pinched him.
"Shush," she said. "I think I know what she's up to."
"Oh?" AJ asked, arching his brows in interest.
Kyndall nodded as they walked to a couple of empty chairs against the wall. "See, Catlyn has this big problem with commitment, as I'm sure you've gathered."
AJ nodded. "Yeah."
"I know she doesn't really care one way or another about Justin," she said watching Justin flirt outrageously with her friend. "Look at her," she nodded. "She's not paying one bit of attention to him."
"She doing this to make Nick jealous?" AJ asked, glancing at Nick who was glowering at the couple.
Kyndall shook her head. "No. I don't really think that's it, either. She's confused about her feelings for Nick. Which is why she pushes him away." She watched Catlyn go get them something to drink. Justin began flirting with the girl sitting next to him as soon as Catlyn was out of sight. "With Justin, she has no fear or him wanting anything from her. Not really anyway," she said.
"True," AJ nodded. "I love you," he grinned pulling her into his arms.
"Okay," she smiled. "I love you, too," she murmured against his lips, as they pressed against hers.
"All right break it up. Break it up," a cheerful voice said pulling them apart. "We don't need any public displays of affection here, ya'll."
"Oh?" AJ asked looking up at Brian. "What was that you and Leighanne were doing over there? Checking to make sure you sill had tonsils?"
Brian grinned. "Yeah well."
"What do you want BRok?" AJ asked with mock annoyance. "Can't ya see I'm busy?"
Brian laughed. "We need to go over to the pool so we can get our picture taken for the paper."
AJ sighed. "Can't they wait?"
Brian shook his head. "Nopers. They want us now." He grinned as he walked off.
"I'm gonna drop his munchkin ass into the pool as soon as we get finished," AJ grumbled as he stood up.
Kyndall giggled as she and AJ walked towards the sliding glass doors that led to the pool area of the hotel. She glanced over her shoulder, seeing Brian drag Nick out of his chair. Nick was moping and Brian looked like he was lecturing him about something. Kyndall sighed. "I'll be right back sweetie," she said kissing AJ on the cheek and heading towards where Catlyn was sitting with Justin. As she walked by Nick and Brian she stopped a minute to give Nick a quick hug and continue walking. He looked at her in confusion, but didn't say anything.
"Hello," Justin smiled as Kyndall walked up to him and Catlyn.
"Hi," Kyndall said flatly. Looking at Catlyn she held out her hand. "Can I talk to you for a second?"
"I see you know the Backstreet Boys," he smirked. "Sure getting cozy with AJ."
"Maybe because he's my boyfriend?" Kyndall replied shortly.
"I see," Justin nodded. "Well, good luck then. I hear he's…interesting to date."
Kyndall rolled her eyes and turned towards Catlyn. "I need to talk to you."
"Umm, sure," she replied glancing at Justin. "I'll be back in a minute."
"I'll be waiting," he said blowing her a kiss as they walked off.
Kyndall silently dragged Catlyn into the other room. She stopped as soon as they were out of anyone's earshot. "What ARE you doing with him?"
"Who? Justin?" Catlyn asked.
"No, the Wizard of Oz. Yes Justin," Kyndall hissed.
"Since when was it a crime to talk to someone?" Catlyn asked, annoyed.
"When it's Justin Timberlake, someone you have despised since you learned who he was? I'd say that would make it a pretty big crime."
Catlyn rolled her eyes. "So maybe I decided to give him a chance. He's not that bad." Catlyn grinned. "Still got that annoying voice, but he's all right."
Kyndall sighed. "Do you realize how much you're killing Nick by doing this?"
"Since when do I care what Nick thinks or doesn't think?"
"Catlyn, you know that you have feelings for Nick. Why do you push him away? He cares for you too. Seeing you with Keebler is like stabbing him in the heart," Kyndall said softly.
"Justin. His name is Justin. And I don't have anything other than friendship feelings towards Nick. It's unfortunate that he feels more for me. But I can't make them go away or make mine anything more."
Kyndall looked at her friend strangely. "Okay," she shrugged. "Good luck with Justin," she said softly.
"Do you mean that?" Catlyn asked, studying Kyndall's expression.
Kyndall nodded slowly. "If it makes you happy, you know I'm going to support you. I just don't think that the guys are going to take to the idea very well."
"The idea of what?" Catlyn asked arching a brow. "That Justin and I are friends?"
"Yeah. That you're having anything to do with him," she shrugged. "Perhaps it will be okay." Smiling, Kyndall hugged Catlyn. "Come on. Let's get back to the party."
