Kyndall didn't ask anymore questions about Catlyn's strange and sudden relationship with Justin. Not that she wasn't confused. She watched over the next week or so as Catlyn spent more and more time with the guys of 'Nsync. She often wondered why it was that she had chosen them as her refuge from her feelings for Nick. And Kyndall knew that Catlyn had feelings for him. But 'Nsync was leaving the next day to finish up their tour in the US before heading over to England. Kyndall wondered if perhaps Catlyn was going to go with them.
Nick was a whole other story. Whatever feelings he had professed for Catlyn, he had buried deep. He was living the life of a rock star again, taking home anything remotely resembling a female. His whole behavior had changed, and Kyndall knew it had to do with his feelings of rejection. She was at a loss as to how to help him. Brian had come to her before the concert the night after Catlyn had hooked up with Justin asking her to talk to Nick. But as soon as she walked up to Nick, and he realized what she wanted, he turned his back on her, walking off with some random girl. She hadn't tried to approach him again, knowing he didn't want to talk.
Kevin had left almost immediately after the last show. Shawna had flown back home after the first show because her sister was having a baby. Kevin wanted to be with her, so he'd caught the first flight back to the states. Brian and Leighanne were leaving the next day, going to spend a week in Australia. Howie had run into some girl that he had went to school with, keeping busy hanging around with her.
Kyndall heard a noise behind her, recognizing it as the sliding glass doors opening. Glancing over her shoulder she smiled at AJ. His hair was wet and messy, he hadn't bothered combing it after washing it. His robe was tied loosely at the waist, and she knew from experience just how little he was wearing underneath it. God, but he is sexy, she thought. How on earth did I get so lucky?
"Hey babygirl," AJ said wrapping his arms around Kyndall, kissing her softly on the neck. "What'cha doing out here?"
She closed her eyes, inhaling the scent of his shampoo and soap from his shower. Kyndall smiled up at him. "Just thinking," she said softly. He sat down in the deck chair next to her, locking his hands behind his head.
"What'cha thinking about?"
She sighed. "Just wondering what's going on with Catlyn. Worried about Nick," she shrugged.
"Kyn baby," he said looking over at her. "You know that they're adults," he smirked. "At least TECHNICALLY."
"Yeah," Kyndall sighed. "I know they're adults. I just can't help but worry about them."
"Well," AJ said closing his eyes. "What I don't get, is why Justin? Why 'Nsync? Why not go after a normal guy?"
Kyndall laughed. "A normal guy, eh? Justin's abnormal?"
AJ opened an eye, peeking over at her. "Do I really have to answer that?" He shrugged. "I just…I don't know. Do you know that he dated Miranda?"
Kyndall looked over at him. "Oh? No, I didn't know that."
AJ nodded. "Right before she and I started going out seriously. We had been dating off and on for a while. I found out that she was with 'Fro boy and broke it off with her. Not very good publicity for rival bands to be sharing a chick," he said grinning at her. "Anyway. She decided that he wasn't what she was looking for," he rolled his eyes. "In other words, he wasn't popular enough, wasn't rich enough, and couldn't fuck good enough for her." Kyndall shot a look at him, and he laughed. "Sorry. Anyway, so we hooked up. I know she was still seeing him though," he shrugged.
"Hmm…" Kyndall mused. "He is just so…not Catlyn." She shook her head. "She doesn't even LIKE them."
AJ shrugged. "People do weird things sometimes when they are in denial about their true feelings."
"So, you going with us?" Joey asked Catlyn as he sat down on the floor in front of the bed. She was laying on her stomach, her legs bent at the knees and crossed at the ankles.
"I don't know. Haven't decided that yet."
"You should," he said taking a bite of his sandwich. "Come along, that is," he grinned up at her.
"Toss me a chip," she grinned.
"Kay," he said leaning his head back on the bed, looking at her. "Here." He tossed it and she caught it with her mouth. "Groovy," he said, doing it again.
"Of course she's coming with us," Justin said walking in the room. "Think I'd go on tour without my girlfriend?"
Catlyn looked at him funny before turning her attention back to the TV and Joey. "What about Brit-" Lance started.
"We leave at noon tomorrow Cat," Justin said interrupting Lance and giving him a dirty look.
"Okay," she shrugged. "I have to talk to Kyndall. I can't just leave without saying something to her."
"Sure you can," he said sitting down next to her. "You don't have to get her permission to do anything."
"No," Catlyn said looking at the TV. "I don't. But I still have to let her know I'm leaving."
"Whatever," he shrugged. "Just be ready to leave tomorrow."
Catlyn looked at him and sighed. She wondered why she put up with him. It's not as if she loved him or anything. She couldn't stand him most of the time. He was so bossy and controlling, conceited and self-centered. She'd only been hanging out with the guys for a little over a week, and all the things that she'd thought about Justin before she'd ever met him had been almost exact. She usually ignored them, pushing them to the back of her mind. Dealing with it as it came. Knowing that by being with him and the other guys of 'Nsync, she wouldn't be forced to face her feelings for-"Hey," she said looking over at Justin. "Let's go somewhere else," she whispered in his ear.
He grinned at her and took her by her hand, leading her out of the room. "Please come with us," he begged her as they walked to his door.
"We'll see," she smiled at him as she pulled him into the room and over to the bed. "We'll see."
