Games for Game Night

 

15min. each game

 

1.  What’s in the bag? 

Formation: Sitting on floor in a circle

Each team picks a captain and co-captain.  The captain draws a cloth bag out of a box located in front of him.  The captain has 1 minute to figure out what is in the bag by feeling the object through the bag without saying anything to his or her teammates.  After 1 minute or less, he passes the bag to his teammates to his right.  Each teammate has 1 minute or less to feel the bag and then pass it to his teammate to the right with out saying anything until everyone has a chance to play.  Then as a team, taking turns will discuss what is in the bag.  The team will have 1 minute to agree on a final answer.  The team captain will give the final answer for the team.  This procedure will be repeated a second time but this time the co-captain will start the game and give the final answer.  There will be only two bags for each team drawn.  Use stop watch to keep track of time.

Scoring:  2 points for each item answered correctly total of 4 points for each team. 

 

2.  Matchbox relay: 

Formation: Form two lines three in each line across from each other ten feet

         apart.

Each team is giving an outer part of a small matchbox.  The first player on each team places the matchbox on his or her nose.  From this time on, hands must not touch the box except to pick it up if it is dropped.  The players pass the box from nose to nose.  Game continues until time is called.  Count how many times the box is passed from nose to nose. 

Scoring: Write number of time the matchbox is passed as the score.

 

3.  Beans and Rice: 

Formation: Sitting in circle

Camper will be blindfolded as they remove one bean from bowl and place in cup.  Pass bowl to teammate remove one bean continue until time runs out. 

Scoring: Keep count of beans and write total down. 

 

4.  Cloths line: 

One rope and two cloths pins for each team.  The first person in line attaches the pin to there clothing and runs the other pin with the rope attached through their shirt, pants, or shorts until each person is part of the cloths line.  The time will not stop until they reverse the procedure and get the line back to the beginning.  The can do this multiple times to try and improve their time.

Scoring:  1st place team gets 5 pts, 2nd  - 4pts, 3rd – 3pts,  4th – 2pts, and 5th – 1pt.)

 

5.  Name that Tune: 

      There will be three different genres of music placed in a container.  A team  

      member will draw a genre from the container.  As a group they will decide how  

      many notes they think they can name the tune in.

            Scoring: 3 notes or less: 10 points, 4 notes: 8 points, 5 notes: 6 points, 6

            or more notes: 4 points.  One bonus point will be giving if they can say the first

            line of the songs lyrics.

 

6. Station tasting contest:

            Each team member will be blind folded and taste a total of 4 different types of

            food each. They are to tell the station director what he/she thinks it is and he will

            award points to the correct answers.

            Scoring: 1 point will be given for each correct answer (possible 24pts)

 

7.  Watermelon spitting contest located outside everyone.  Each team member will have a

           chance to spit one seed for there team.  The longest seed spit will be marked for  

           each team.  Points will be given, 1st  place 4 points,  2nd  place 3 points , 3rd   place 2

           points, and 4th  place.  1 point.

 

Total playing time: 1hr. 45min.

 

Participants: 25 campers and 15 counselors

 

Campers:  Will draw numbers for teams

Counselors: Will draw team number, station number, or a blank sheet (indicates floater).

Each team picks a team captain and co-captain

 

Each captain will take score sheet to each station.  Hand sheet to person at station.  Person in charge of station will write score on score sheet and initial it after the game is over.  Captain will take score sheet around to all stations.  Once your team has played all games the co-captain will be responsible to take score sheet to table #8 to be scored.

 

Each team picks a name for their team

 

Each team rotates to a station once giving time to change

 

Each station will have a number and the name of the game posted

 

Directions will be giving at beginning of each game

 

15 minutes at each station rotate with your counselor on your team

 

Counselors assigned to a team will also participate with their team

 

Counselors assigned to a station will stay at that station, give directions as needed, and take score.  Write score on score sheet and initial score sheet.

 

**Then all other counselors not assigned will be floaters if anyone needs a break or just wants to see a game played.  Therefore, everyone needs to know how to play all the games.

 

Equipment:  12 blindfolds, beans, rice, (2) matchboxes, (1) 25’ rope, 2 cloths pins, 10 bags and misc. items, keyboard, sheet music, CD’s with music and 1, CD player, 3 stopwatches, 4 watermelons, 35 spoons and 35 cups, 1 measuring tape, 1 roll of blue painters tape, 8 sheets of large poster paper, 1 permanent marker, 1 shoebox, 2 containers, poly spots or small cones for marking watermelon seeds, rope for clothes line at least 25 feet, 3 tables, and 16 chairs
