Welcome to the Campers' Page. This is probably the most difficult page to write something about - because words could never capture all these kids do on a daily basis - let alone the 4 days at Camp. Camp S.K.A.M.P usually hosts about 30 campers per year...and that in its self is 30 reasons to come and be a part of Camp; but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Campers come to Camp S.K.A.M.P because their conditions (spinal bifida, cerebral palsy, etc...) make it difficult for them to attend regular summer camps. However, at Camp S.K.A.M.P they drop their "dis" at the door and bring only their abilities. I have yet to see a wheelchair or a walker stop one of these kids from playing basketball, volleyball, ping pong or swimming. I have yet to see a disability stop them from making a craft or for that matter...A FRIEND. Campers, thank you for your inspiration, dedication and imagination! |
