Now that the year is coming to a close, it's time to total up how many girls we've served this year. You may think it's funny, but it's a very important number. GSUSA and our councils understand the value of activities expressed in these terms. So, to help us come up with a total number for across the country, we're asking all groups to let us know how many girls they've served this current membership (academic) year. If you are in touch with, or know of, groups who are not represented on the CAMPUSGS mailing list, please have them contact us, or give us their contact information.
We'll total up all the numbers we get by May 1st, then announce the final number for 2005-2006 on our website. So, to get you started, here are a couple basic counting principles to make sure that we're all on the same page.
The basic rule is, you can count any girl who benefited from a program activity that would NOT have been provided or available in the absence of a campus group or campus/student connections.
COUNTS: |
Does NOT Count: |
|
1. Your group hosts an event on campus: Thinking Day,
GSU 2003: Passport to the World, or other. 2. Your group (or members of your group) provide the primary planning and administration of an event held off campus. 3. Members of the group work with specific troops, on a long term basis (count all girls in troop once), or on a short-term basis (count each girl in each troop assisted). |
1. Members of the group assist at a council, service unit,
or other beyond-the-troop event that would have happened without the
group's assistance. 2. Members of the group assist in the planning of an event, but are not the primary directors. |
Again, if you have any questions about how to count your group's girls served, please don't hesitate to email Cristina, the Counting Coordinator.
