DEMOCRACY AND GOVERNANCE UNIT
After donkey of years one party system in Cameroon, multi partism finally installed itself in
1990 and since then there has been the urge to move ahead. Democracy has not been
purely rooted in the Cameroonian society which is still yearning to make steps ahead. Despite
numerous elections that have been held in Cameroon since 1990, majority have not been free
and fair. Where the CADYF feels the pain in the omission of youth in the participation
electoral process of Cameroon. From the inception of multipartism many youth had the
burning desire to participate qualitative in electoral process. But as days go by many contested
elections have demonstrated that youth have been omitting this civic night. Hence they are
excluded by indirect acts of unscrupulous administrators to from the decision making process
of their country.
The management of public affairs, the rule of law and accountability in the Cameroonian
society is not participatory with youth on the scenery. High level of corruption excludes the
youths; impunity by some state officials damage the course of justice and the youth are always
affected seriously. The bitter part of it all is that no public servant or state official in Cameroon
give an account whatsoever on acts or omission while discharging their mission. This make
the future of youth dark for the very hope the lie on is the that tool which state officials play
with without blink of an eye.
This project seeks to put an end in these ills by being at the forefront of the battle; If the youth
carry out massive sensitization and distribution of information on these malice, there is
going to be a great difference. What we expect from these youth is that they become a force to
be reckon with in the society. They will also be expected to be at the forefront of the management
of public affairs in their country. With regard to democratic process, youth will become decision
makers and will contribute quantitatively and qualitatively in every election in Cameroon.
We will not spare institutional crimes such as corruption, embezzlement, torture, bribery and
so on. Once there shall be accountable government free and fair elections, rule of law, and youth
full participation in the management of public affairs, CYC shall consider the project accomplished.
