It is hard to define health without mentioning disease, for the state of health of every human
includes freedom from diseases. Fullness of life demands good health. The youth confronted
with executing poverty hardly defend themselves against diseases not to talk of the devastating
impact of the HIV/AIDS. The presence of life and health are related at opposite extremes of scales.
They are thus exclusive of each other for a person in health, the organs function properly, life is
pleasant for his brain respond by generating thoughts in a setting of optimism and courage. Many
youths are plaque by diseases. This project which is so imprinting the life of the organisation
seeks to bring together two systems of health care, that is, traditional and modern health care
systems to complement each other for the eradication of diseases in the society especially among
youths. This integrated approach of health by CYC is typical and have as mission to attained a state
of complete physical, mental and social well being of youth who constitute the work force of the
nation and the future generation. With the devastating impact that HW/AIDS has on the youth many
will not have stability and vitality to reach three-score years and ten which Psalm 90:10 talks of. By
integrating theses two health care systems we are acknowledging the aged-old knowledge and
wisdom of traditional medicine and wisdom of indigenous science. Health services outreach in
Cameroon is not enough considering the structures of logistic and medical staff. In addition to that
there is high cost of health care and medicine, which constitute a big problem in the socio-economic
context
The strategy of this project is to create at every part of Cameroon integrated health centres
which will jointly research and trained personnel who will dispense health services efficiently.
Since here is 1 physician for more than 2.5000 inhabitants contrary to the who standard which
stands at (01) physician of an average of 10.000 inhabitants, CADYF hopes to reduce the
gap by training traditional healers who will complement this gap. The project practically:
Carry out campaigns against deadly diseases, vaccination,
Research into some tradition African sciences,
Identification of well accepted indigenous healers brings them together and helping the
set local training centres of indigenous medicine,
Define syllabi and training programs and certifications, ethical codes of adherence and practice,
Identification and offer support to some leading “bush hospitals” where current practice
are complementary to modern hospital systems such as people’s treatment centres indigenous
clinics for bone-setting and clinic for treating obscure cultural-linked diseases. This exploitation
primary health care philosophy by CADYF will bring out expected results which range from
increase of life expectancy and greater productivity. This primary health care will relay at local
referral levels on heath workers including physician, nurses, midwives, auxiliaries and
community workers applicable, as well as traditional practitioner’ as needed suitably
trained socially and technically to work as health team and to respond to the expressed health
needs of the community. Health is wealth and we are all working in our daily lives to preserve
it. It is the foundation of a nation and every human being. The economy of the nation is
expected to be strengthen with dedicated and healthy Cameroonians.
