| Spiritual Laws Just as there are laws that govern our physical lives, there are also Spiritual Laws that all must obey in order to have a relationship with God. We know these things by what God has told us in His message to man the Bible. Law #1: God LOVES you, and offers a wonderful PLAN for your life. God's Love For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16), and God's Plan Jesus said, "The thief's purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness." (John 10:10) and For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) So why is it that most people are not experiencing the abundant life? Because of law #2 Law #2: Man is SINFUL and SEPARATED from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life. Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way and fellowship with God was broken. This self-will, characterized by an attitude of active rebellion or passive indifference, is evidence of what the Bible calls sin. Man is Sinful Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God's glorious ideal; yet now God declares us "not guilty" of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins. (Romans 3:23-24) Man is Separated For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) How can that separation be bridged? By law #3 . Law #3: Jesus Christ is God's ONLY provision for Man's sin. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life. The price for sin needed to be paid. We, as sinful people, were not capable of pleasing God. The price was One who was without sin Himself, to become sin in our place. He Died in Our Place But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since by his blood he did all this for us as sinners, how much more will he do for us now that he has declared us not guilty? Now he will save us from all of God's wrath to come. (Romans 5:8-9) He Rose from the Dead I passed on to you right from the first what had been told to me, that Christ died for our sins just as the Scriptures said he would, and that he was buried, and that three days afterwards he arose from the grave just as the prophets foretold. He was seen by Peter and later by the rest of "the Twelve." After that he was seen by more than five hundred Christian brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now. (I Corinthians 15:3-6) He is the Only Way to God Jesus told him, "I am the Way--yes, and the Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me. (John 14:6) The first 3 laws are not enough. You need to take the next step by believing that Jesus did what He said He did. All you need to do is believe God does the rest. There is nothing we can do to earn salvation, to please a Holy God. We must come through Him who paid the price for us. Hence, law #4 . Law #4: We must individually BELIEVE Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives. We Must Believe Christ All those who believe this are reborn!--not a physical rebirth resulting from human passion or plan--but from the will of God. (John 1:12) We Receive Christ Through Faith What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead. (Hebrews 11:1), andBecause of his kindness, you have been saved through trusting Christ (faith). And even trusting is not of yourselves; it too is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good we have done, so none of us can take any credit for it. It is God himself who has made us what we are and given us new lives from Christ Jesus; and long ages ago he planned that we should spend these lives in helping others. (Ephesians 2:8-9) When we receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth Jesus replied, "What I am telling you so earnestly is this: physical birth is not enough. You must be born spiritually. Men can only reproduce human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven; so don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again! Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it will go next, so it is with the Spirit. We do not know on whom he will next bestow this life from heaven." (see John 3:5-8) We Receive Christ by Personal Invitation Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me. (Revelation 3:20) Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self (repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us the kind of people He wants us to be. Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is not enough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience. We receive Jesus Christ by faith believing in what you do not see as an act of will. You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. God knows your heart and is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer: Lord Jesus, I need you. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen! If you have prayed that prayer and want help in your walk, send us an EMAIL and we would be happy to pray with you and help you along your journey. God bless you! |
