Comments (48 words max.) :   I fondly recall watching a lot of these games. And now judging by your final stats I would tend to say that it was too close to call. Both Canada and Russia were and still are great hockey nations.

Comments (48 words max.) :   Without a doubt during that period of time USSR was a better team, and if you doubt that-remember that most games were played in Canada, and the referees were pro-Canadian. Great site by the way, very correct and unbiased.

Comments (48 words max.) :   Yes Brent, now I recall that too, it was a fast goal-only the camera caught it- so the Soviets WON summit 72!!!

Comments (48 words max.) :   Heres a shocking piece of fact I can remember clearly but cant find any record of. In the 1972 series I remember Russians scoring a goal in game 7 or 8 that should have counted and won the game and series. It was so fast the ref. missed it. The reply show

Comments (48 words max.) :   I was never more proud to be Canadian than on September 28, 1972. However, CCCP rallied to easily win 74 series against WHA. For the players, nothing beats intl hockey.

Comments (48 words max.) :   CCCP wins EASY! Canada Cups 74 and 91 were NOT their best team BUT WHA was a better league than NHL (33-27-7 against NHL).So it is 14-11 for CCCP!

Comments (48 words max.) :   Your conclusions are misleading. The 1974 team (WHA All Stars) was NOT Canadas best. Best on best... SU won ONLY once... 1981 Canada Cup.

Comments (48 words max.) :   Jeff, the only way Canada won 72 was by hurting Kharlamov and because Firsov didnŽt play.74,79,81,87 and all Super Series CCCP won shows they were best,as does this site btw.!!

Comments :   Can you immagine if Team Canada would have trained together for months leading up to the 1972 summit? Immagine if Bobby Hull was allowed to participate. Team Canada would have won 6 0f 8 games very easily. Canada just had to take it more seriously and tra

Comments :   If you look carefully at the goal scoring stats from Canada Cup 1984 and 1987 you will see that without Gretzky Canada would most likely have lost those 2 Canada Cups to the Soviets as well.
