Based on the RPG of Tyler Maw, Lindsay Horsman, and Daniel Eagles. Story written by: Lindsay Horsman and Tyler Maw Chapter 1 All eyes were on the bottle of Champaign that was floating in space and was on a collision course for the U.S.S – Tiberius. As the bottle neared people drew in deep breaths and held them hoping it was going to break, closer and closer then finally it hit the side of the hull and broke into a thousand pieces. The bridge of the Tiberius broke out into applauds, cheers, and pat’s on the back. Captain Orian Beltran smiled as Admiral Vorstakofe took his hand and shook it “ Orian” he said with a thick Russian accent and his charming smile, “congratulations I know you will Captain this ship well. Admiral Paris wanted to be here but unfortunately he is helping with a break through on the Pathfinder project” his smile faded slightly as he watched Orian’s eyes shift to his first officer, Commander Isabella Janeway, or as most people knew her, Bell. Her nickname suited her very well. Her slime figure and her beauty was stunning, she was like a flower but that flower was a very tough and stubborn one; very much like her Aunt, Captain Kathryn Janeway. Vorstakofe looked at Bell then Orian “ is she still having problems with her aunt’s disappearance”? Orian nodded slightly and focused back on the Admiral “ yes…but I’m helping her as much as I can” his smile was faint but sincere. “She is lucky to have such a good friend and Captain” he smiled then walked over to another crewmember. Orian looked at Bell for a moment then made his way over to her when he seen she was standing alone by the window. She was starring out at the stars as she did so much, always wondering where Kathryn was now and if she was ok. Feeling a hand on her shoulder she turned to see Orian smiling down at her. “Hi” she smiled and looked out the window again. Orian kept a comforting arm around her shoulders “ Wishing she was here”? He looked down at his friend. “ Yeah…she would have liked to be here for this…mom was busy to, she said to tell you Congratulations” she looked at him with a smile. Phoebe Janeway was always like a mother to Orian when he and Bell were growing up. His smile was warm with pride “ You know Bell I think that this ship is going to go really far…with such a great crew, and first officer we can accomplish anything” he smiled at her as she chuckled slightly. “Great first officer hunh? Well I guess that comes from growing up with such a great influence” she smiled at him. A Ensign walked over to them and stood at attention “Captain, we are clear to leave dry dock sir”. Orian looked at him with a smile, he looked fresh out of the academy. Remembering all the good times he had there brought a smile and a chuckle to his lips “ thank you Ensign” he walked over to his chair and tapped the command console, opening a ship wide comm. Channel. “This is Captain Beltran all officer’s report to your stations. All of the guests if you would please report to the transporters to beam back over to the station it would be much appreciated. Thank you, Beltran out” he tapped the console again and the link closed. The bridge cleared out very quick and only the bridge crew was left. Bell took her chair beside Orian. “Ready”? He asked as he looked over at her. She nodded and tapped her command console “ all stations report green, sir” she said and moved her hand over the console lightly. “ Good, helm bring the engines on line, opps contact the star base and tell them we’re ready to go”, the opps officer nodded and tapped his console “ Docking clamps are disengaged, we’re ready and clear to go sir” said the ensign. Orian smiled “ Conn take us out half impulse” a small grin tugged at his mouth as he seen Bell looking at him with a slight raised eyebrow. The helmsmen turned in his chair and looked at him then looked forward “aye sir”. The helmsmen gulped as he looked at the view screen and watched as the ship quickly left dry dock. The poor helmsmen’s heart was beating so loudly he thought is heart was going to jump out of his chest but his hands were perfectly still. He cleared the station and moved his hands over the console “ Course and speed Captain”? He asked looking at the view screen watching the far away stars getting a bit closer. Orian cleared his throat “ Deep Space nine, we have a few things to pick up” he glanced at Bell then looked forward “ warp 7 Lieutenant, engage” he leaned back in his chair slightly and watched the stars stream past the Tiberius. It was always such an amazing sight, and still a wonder on how they had accomplished such a great feat of technology. “ETA six hours” said the Lt with a cool and collective voice. Orian got up out of his chair “ can I speak with you commander” he said to Bell then walked in his ready room. She nodded and walked into his ready room with him. He walked over to the replicator “ Hot chocolate” he looked back at Bell “ would you like anything”? She smiled “ Coffee would be nice”. He turned to the replicator and took his hot chocolate “ coffee, black…I don’t know how you can drink this stuff” he said as he picked the coffee cup up and handed it to her then sat down on the couch. She sat down and took a sip of her coffee taking in the aroma “ I wouldn’t be able to live with out it. You need air I need coffee” they both laughed and took another sip of their drinks. “ I wanted to talk to you about our mission. We’re going to DS9 to pick up a few crewmembers and some supplies” he handed her a padd with the information then continued “Admiral Vorstakofe has ordered us to the gamma quadrant to investigate some strange readings we’ve been getting…they’re not sure but they think that the Dominion might be up to something”. Bell looked up at him “ the dominion…but we’re just one ship…we wouldn’t stand a chance in a conflict with some of their ships”. Orian nodded “ I know that’s why we have to be careful we’ve been given some new upgrades to help mask our signatures…. this is probably going to be a dangerous survey mission but I think this crew will do fine”. He watched his old friend nod with a worried look. “ I know Bell…. I don’t really like this idea either but everything will work out…besides if something goes wrong we have a Janeway on board that can get us out of anything” he joked trying to soften the mood. She laughed and shook her head “ I suppose so” she took a sip of her coffee with a smile. He looked at her “ Just promise me one thing”; she looked at him “ what’s that”? She asked. “ Don’t give our new crewmembers a hard time” he watched her look back down at the list finishing reading it her mouth almost dropped open. “ I can’t believe you would even allow him on this ship”! She frowned and looked at him “ Orian he shouldn’t even be in Starfleet” “Starfleet command thinks he’s a great asset to the federation”. She sighed “I won’t give him a hard time if he behaves himself. Alex Harling and I aren’t exactly on good terms you know”. Orian smiled “ who knows he might just surprise you”. |
