First place goes to... The Mosquito |
![]() |
Fact Sheet Lovable factor on a scale of 1-10: Zero Life expectancy: Very short; shorter if they're killed. Size: The picture on the left is to scale, but most mosquitoes tend to swell to irregular proportions after temporarily quenching their bloodlust. Likeliness to become exctinct within the next ten years: Very unlikely. Though Canadians continue their attempts to exterminate the little blood suckers, they have proven themselves hardly little creatures and will likely live on until the cows come home. |

Second place is captured by... The Buffalo |

Fact Sheet Lovable factor on a scale of 1-10: Nine. Ten if you've ever seen the MTS commercials. Life expectancy: Very, very long. The buffalos at the Museum of Man and Nature have been there for as long as I can remember. Size: Large. (Note: picture is not to scale.) If one was to be shorn, its size would be reduced by a factor of about one-half. Likeliness to become extinct within the next ten years: Very likely, given the fact that most are already extinct but for a staggering few which make their home on buffalo farms located along randomn highways in the Prairies. |

And third place goes to... The Beaver |
Fact Sheet Lovable factor on a scale of 1-10: About five or so. This ambiguity stems from the fact that nobody has ever actually seen a beaver. However, in the years before Canada became a country, some obscure sightings were made by a farmer's children in Southern Ontario, and it is upon that basis that this analysis is conducted. Life expectancy: About five or so. Size: Anywhere from the size of a postage stamp to a full-grown Tyrannosaurus rex. The children couldn't be sure. Likeliness to become extinct within the next ten years: This falls within the range of relatively likely to highly unlikely, give or take. |
