When we got down to the beaches, we could hear Wide Mouth Mason on stage, but it took us forever to find a parking spot, so we didn't actually get to see them. When we actually got into the area where the concert was held, we decided to go over to the Mix 99.9 tent, where we saw Wide Mouth Mason doing an interview. I stayed there for a bit, and I met Safwan (WMM's drummer), but I was trying to find 5 of my other friends, so I didn't stick around to talk to Earl and Sean. (I've already met them before anyways...)
So then, Nine Days went on, and I finally met my other friends, behind the soundboard. Nine Days were pretty good. I only knew one of their songs, but they came highly recommended to me by my friend Stef (who i saw at the beaches later on in the day) so I listened, and I got into it. Absolutely was definetly the best song that they played, because they got a really good response from the audience. Other than Absolutely, I don't think very many people knew any of Nine Days' songs.
After Nine Days finished, we found ourselves a really good spot, right at the front of the stage. In between the sets, while they were changing the gear, they were playing the Mix Labour Day countdown, and Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge came on, so we had a sing-along with me and all my friends. (I think the rest of the people standing near us thought we were on drugs...but we weren't!!)
So anyways, after that, Fastball came on. They opened with Fire Escape, and at first, you couldn't really hear the vocals very well, but then they got the microphone's balanced, so it sounded good. Then they played a bunch of songs from their new album (which I don't have yet, so I didn't know any of them) Then they played 2 more from their old album (All The Pain Money Can Buy). Then they asked if anyone wanted to sing with them, and they played "The Way" (that song definetly got the best response from the audience). They played one other song (can't remember it right now) and then they closed with "You're An Ocean" (their newest single, which sounded really good).
After Fastball, everyone in our little group wanted to go for a walk, so we gave up our *PERFECT* spots, and decided to go look around. We walked around just about everywhere...and we even made friends with "Kozy the Bear" (don't ask).
When we finally went back, our perfect spots were gone, and we ended up with ok spots for Collective Soul. Collective Soul turned out to be only 2 members of the band - Ed and Ross. they played a *REALLY* amazing acoustic set. it was really cool. it was very short though. songs that stuck out in my mind as being really good were - Shine, December, and the newest single, Why Part 2.
after collective soul, we decided that we didn't want to stick around too much longer, so we saw the first song of the next band, Sister Hazel, and we decided to roam the Beaches, and we hit some candy stores instead :)
