I got into Molson Park at about 12:45, after waiting in line for a little more than an hour. The first thing i did was walk over to the edge's tent, where i saw my buddy, Spanky! he gave me a huge hug, and a few little thingy's that you rip open to win stuff (like, those lottery things that you have to get 3 of a kind to win) i got a lollipop! :-)
so then, i decided to go over to the autograph line to meet up with my friend Jenn. i saw her right away, and she was in the front of the lineup to meet Limblifter (which i wanted to do anyways, so i joined the lineup with her). at 1:00, we went into meet Limblifter. they were pretty cool, but VERY quiet...they barely said two words! After we met Limblifter, we decided to go over to the little stage to see Odin Red. They were really good. i saw them a few years ago at canadian music week, and then again, opening for Ashley MacIsaac at a free show at Wonderland.
then we went over to the edge's tent again, cause Jenn wanted to meet Spanky (umm...well, i kinda wanted to go over there too!*L*) so she got a grab bag from the edge (with a Titan A.E soundtrack thingy in it, and it had Lit's Over My Head on it, and i LOVE that song!)
then we decided to go over to the autograph tent again, to see if our other friends were there, and we found Amber! so, the rest of the day, i pretty much spent with Amber, her friend Dawn, Jenn, her friend Amy, and my sister, Daniela. After we found Amber, we decided to go over to the main stage so that we could get a good spot for Goldfinger (i LLLOOOOOOOVVVEEE goldfinger!) we ended up getting a spot right up front, towards the left of the stage, which was very cool.
after a wait that seemed like forever, it was finally time for Goldfinger to come out! i knew all the songs that they played, and it was SOO awesome! they were one of the best performances of the day, in my opinion :) they invited the Edge 102 contest winner on stage to sing with them, and they played "The Thong Song" it was great! :) they also had a stage diving competition, which was cool (even though they said that the first group really sucked at stage diving!) and Darrin also came out from behind his drum kit, and he led the crowd in a beautiful rendition of "Oh Canada."
After Goldfinger, we wanted to see a bit of Limblifter's performance, before going over to see the Flashing Lights. Right before Limblifter went on, JOE CANADIAN dropped by!! he said the "I AM CANADIAN" rant, along with half of the crowd. it was VERY cool! So, Limblifter ended up starting later, so we only caught 3 songs before going over to the little stage. (but i got to see my 2 favourite songs, Screwed it Up and Tinfoil, so that's ok!) It was almost time for Goldfinger's autograph session too, so we decided to join the end of the lineup...which went on FOREVER. the line went half way into the mosh pit of the second stage. so while we were waiting in line, we got to see the last part of the Flashing Lights set. (didn't see the whole thing, because of Limblifter) Elevature sounded REALLY good, even though there wasn't a lot of crowd participation at the "FLASHING LIGHTS, FLASHING LIGHTS!" part. (i screamed as loud as i could to make up for the other people that weren't screaming!)
then the flashing lights were over, and the goldfinger lineup was barely moving. Nickelback came on just a little while later. we couldn't *SEE* them, because we were on the wrong angle to see the stage, but we heard them and they were great. then, someone came around telling us that goldfinger was finished autographing, and the flashing lights were in there now. i was really disappointed that i didn't get to meet goldfinger, cause that's what i was really looking forward to doing at edgefest, but i wasn't going to let that bring me down. so jenn and i decided to stay in the line to meet the Lights, and everyone else kinda did their own thing while we were in line.
we got into meet the lights pretty quickly, because there weren't a lot of people in line anymore, after Goldfinger left. i noticed that Matt cut his hair...it's not as long/shaggy anymore, and it looks cool :) (it looked cool before too!) so anyways, we got up there, and the light's remembered me, which was cool :) i had quite a discussion with Steve about his drumsticks, which he *PROMISED* to give to me TWICE before, and i STILL don't have a pair...he said from now on, he promises not to promise anymore :) i tried to get a group pic with the band, but i don't think Matt was paying attention, so i think the pic is of just me, Gaven, Henri and Steve. i also took a pic of jenn with the band, and now i think she really likes them :)
after meeting up with the rest of our friends, we listened to the rest of nickelback's set, and then we decided to go grab ourselves a good spot for jet set satellite, and then hopefully we would get an even better spot for j. englishman! we ended up with a spot right up front, towards the left of the stage. just before JSS's set, i saw Junior from j. englishman's band, and he recognized me, and was talking to me from on stage :) then, Spanky came up on stage to introduce the band, and JSS went on. they started with Baby Cool Your Jets. (that song ROCKS!) then they played a whole bunch of other songs, and i think they ended with Best Way To Die, which sounded really good!!
then, a few people moved out of the pit, so we got an even better spot for j. englishman! Amy and Jenn decided that they wanted to go meet jet set satellite, so they left. Then, once again, Spanky came on to introduce j! if i remember correctly, he opened with Abused, which sounded SSSSSOOO awesome...actually, j's whole set sounded awesome!!! he brought out two back up singers and they sang Pure, and it was unbelievable! then after that, he brought his sister, Esthero, up on stage and she sang backup vocals on The Hero and i think on Breaking Down as well, but i'm not sure. Sometime in the middle of j's set, Lonny looked down at the audience, and he saw me, and he smiled at me (and made one of his weird faces!) because he recognized me :) When they played More, the crowd was TOTALLY into it. Everyone was singing along, and j. got the crowd involved by singing the "i want something more" part at the end, so like, instead of j. singing "i want something, i need something" he sang "it's your turn now, here we go now" and then he pointed the microphone out at the audience and we got to sing "i want something more" it sounded really good, and it was so cool!
after j.'s set, we had a decision. we didn't know whether we wanted to see filter, or to meet j. we decided that we would meet j. but it took him forever to come out, so we were wondering if we had made the right decision or not. finally, j. started signing, but the line was moving SO slowly. spanky came out and introduced Three Doors Down. even though i only knew one of their songs, their set sounded really cool. (we heard it while we were in line waiting for j.)
then FINALLY we got in there to meet j. the people moving the lineup ended up breaking up our group, so amy my sister and i got in first, and amber and jenn were behind us. but there were a bunch of people in front of me, so we all ended up meeting j. at the same time anyways. then i saw the "poor li'l rockstar 2000" tour t-shirts. i saw Junior wearing one at the CBC show, and ever since then, i've wanted one. so i decided that i was going to buy it. as i was getting the shirt, j. turned around and saw me and said "now there's a whole heap full of trouble!" and laughed, then he's like "hey katie! how's it going?!" and we had a conversation, and then i asked him to sign my autograph book (AGAIN) and he wrote "K! what are you doin' here?!" and then signed his name. i found that very hilarious, because he addressed me as "k" which is what all my friends call me! then i asked him to take a picture and he looked at me and said "no!" (but he was laughing) i told him about how my picture with him didn't turn out at the CBC show, so then he's like "YEAH! i was joking! of course! come back here!" so then i took a pic with him, and i took a pic of amber and him. we were listening to the other bands going on, and j goes "i'm missing filter!" then we all said to him "SO ARE WE!!" and he laughed :) then after that, we ran over to the main stage to catch the last part of Filter's set.
by the time we got over to the main stage, we only got to hear Hey Man, Nice Shot, and Take A Picture. they sounded really cool, from the few short moments that we actually GOT to hear them. At that point, we ended up breaking up with Jenn and Amy, because they wanted to go into the mosh pit, but we just felt like sitting down for the rest of the night.
After filter, we were hungry, so we decided to get something to eat. we joined the mile long lineup. after about half an hour, it seemed as though we hadn't even moved an inch. then MGB was about to go on, so Dawn decided to leave us, and check out the band, so it was only Amber, my sis, and myself left. We were *ALMOST* at the front of the line, when we heard MGB starting. now i was kinda pissed off, because the lineups were taking forever! finally, we got our food...but the ketchup thingy wasn't working properly, so this girl decided to be nice, and squirt my ketchup on my burger for me...but then it squirted all over everything, so i ended up being full of ketchup for the rest of the night (but that's ok! i still appreciated the gesture! and i had baby wipes with me anyways, just incase i got dirty...and they came in handy!)
so then we went and listened to the rest of MGB's set on the hill. MGB sounded REALLY good. much better than last year. (i thought their sound was pretty crappy last year at edgefest when i saw them, but that could've been because i was in the front row, in front of the speaker) Aparitions sounded exceptionally good, as well as The Future is X-Rated. actually, the whole set was great!
after MGB, we decided to walk around for a bit, and try to find Amber's cousin, who had broken off from the group earlier in the afternoon, to find her friends...and we (umm..i) wanted to find Spanky :) so we ended up going out the closest gates that were open, and the first person we saw was Spanky, who was cleaning up @ the edge...putting away the tent 'n stuff. amber told me i should ask him to come sit with us for the rest of the night, but i was too shy. so we made a deal that i would hold her bag of chips, if she would ask him. but he was talking with some other people, and we were trying to find amber's cousin, so she didn't end up asking him.
we didn't end up finding amber's cousin, so we decided to go find ourselves a spot on the hill to sit at for the tea party's set. tea party sounded REALLY good too. i love the way they play extended versions of their songs in concert. then, all of a sudden i see spanky walking by! so i yelled out "SPANKY!" and he turned around and said "hey! there you are!" and he came and sat beside me for a bit. he was telling me about how everyone was acting backstage. then we talked a little more...then about 10 minutes later, he had to go find someone so he left (but not before he gave me another huge hug!) then we sat and listened to the more of the tea party. then he walked by again and said "i can't find anyone!" so i called him over, and he said he would come back later to sit with us. then, the tea party's set was almost over, so we waited a little longer for spanky, but we had to go find Dawn, and try and find Amber's cousin. we found dawn, but we still didn't see amber's cousin. So, Dawn and Amber went to go find food, and me and Dan went to go find the exact same spot that we were in before, so that we could meet Amber and Dawn when they came back.
so then, Amber and Dawn found us, and we sat together to listen to Creed. Creed had an AMAZING light show. they started out with some pyrotechnics stuff, and they set the stage on fire :) it looked REALLY cool. we only stayed for half of creed's set though, because we were all very cold, and very tired. we left right after they played What If, and we had great music to listen to while walking to the parking lot :)
so, edgefest '00 was definetly a blast! had a great time, and i can't wait to do it again!
