The Vans Warped Tour 2000

Saturday July 22, 2000, Molson Park - Barrie.
Featuring: NOFX, Green Day, MxPx, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Gob, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Save Ferris, Bif Naked, Sum 41, Avail, Millencolin, Snapcase, Anti-Flag, One Minute Silence, Twin Fold, and MANY more.

The first thing i noticed when i got into the park was the way the stages were set up. There were two stages right beside each other, which meant that as soon as one band was finished on one stage, the next band went on right away, so there was no waiting for stages to be set up in between the acts. (it was a VERY good idea!!) I got to Molson Park just in time to see Sum 41's performance. they were GREAT. i didn't know too much of their stuff in advance, but i loved all of their songs.

Next up were the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I had seen them once before, at a free show at HMV, and i thought that they were good. Seeing them on the stage at warped though was awesome! Dicky Barrett has the coolest voice...it's really raspy, even when he's just talking. Towards the end of the set, me and my sister decided to check out if anyone was at the edge's tent yet, doing interviews, but there was no one there. then we were walking, and Spanky called me (he was sitting on the grass) So we talked to him for a bit, and i asked if he knew the set times, and his friend told me that they had a tent with all the set times. So me and my sister went for a walk, trying to find the list of set times, but we didn't find it. Instead, we looked at a bunch of booths with merchandise set up.

then we passed by this one booth, and a guy handed me a postcard and he said "One Minute Silence - They're signing right now!" so i figured what the hell....i might as well meet them. So i got in the (very) short line up to meet them, and i was talking to them 'n stuff. they were very cool...British guys! (i LOVE british accents)

So then we decided to go back to the main stage. I think Save Ferris came on next. I saw them play once before with Sugar Ray and Goldfinger. these guys are awesome to see live! everyone around us was dancing, it was so much fun! My sister said Monique reminded her of Courtney Love - except...Monique can sing :)

After Save Ferris, we went over to the other side, where there was more grass patches, and we decided to sit down for the rest of the show. (my sister didn't want to go into the mosh pit, because she was wearing open sandals, and she didn't want to lose her shoes, or get hurt...so we sat down for the whole show) i think Avail came on next, but i don't really remember. All i remember was that i didn't know any of their songs, but i actually liked them. After them, i think Snapcase came on, but i didn't like their set too much, so i didn't pay too much attention to them. I *think* Good Riddance came on next. I don't really remember the set times of some of the bands, so i'm kinda guessing here...all i really remember is that Gob closed the show, and NOFX was second last to play. So here's what i thought of the rest of the bands:

Bif Naked: i like some of her songs. i'm still kinda on the fence about her live performance. maybe if i knew a few more of her songs, i'd really like her, because i really liked the songs that i knew of hers. (Spaceman, Chotee, Daddy's Getting Married...)
Millencolin: i never heard these guys before, but i thought that they were pretty cool! i liked their sound.
Long Beach Dub Allstars: these guys KICK ASS!! i LOVED their set. i thought they were AMAZING!!
MxPx: they ROCK! i LOVE this band SOO much!! i had "Responsibility" in my head the whole day, and when they played it, it was awesome! at the very end of their set, we decided to go get something to eat, because we were getting hungry, so we didn't see their last song, or the first couple of songs of the next band.
Green Day: what can be said about Green Day?! they RULE! they were probably one of my favourite performances of the day. they played a lot of their singles, and even though they're releasing a new album soon, they didn't play many new songs.
NOFX: i think NOFX was probably one of my favourite performances too...they ROCKED!! their set was SO amazing! they played a mix of old songs and new songs. Their newest single, "bottles to the ground" was amazing! i LOVE that song so much :)
Gob: Gob was cool! we decided that we didn't want to stick around for the whole set though, because we didn't want to get stuck in traffic, so i heard a few of their songs from the car. (it was actually very clear, listening to the concert from Molson Park drive!) What To Do, Asshole TV and Paint It Black were my favourite songs that they played. :)

Other Interesting Notes: when i was coming back from getting my dinner, i ran into George Stroumboulopoulos. he was lookin' good (as always) and we had a nice little conversation. then i left, and sat on the grass. A few minutes later, i noticed Theo from Gob standing a few feet away from me, so i got him to sign my autograph book, and i got him to sign a happy birthday message for my friend Lauren, who couldn't come to the concert, but LOVES gob. :) i had to wait around for a while, because i was the only one there who had a Sharpie, for Theo to sign with. (if you got something signed by Theo, in a green marker...it was mine! *L*)

Warped ROCKED :) (thanks to the edge for the tickets!) =)
