Dear Mr. Vizzutti,

Your recent e-mail was passed on to me yesterday.

On behalf of my constitutents, I have written to the government on numerous occasions. I am pleased to provide you with a scanned copy of a more recent response on this issue from the Hon. Art Eggleton, Minister of National Defence.

I would appreciate you posting it on your website should you wish to do so.

John Reynolds, Member of Parliament West Vancouver - Sunshine Coast 947-4617 T. 947-4620 Fx.

Dear Sir,

All though I am very impressed with your response to this matter and feel that reflects on your sincerity to help, I have to strongly disagree with the conclusion forth by Mr. Eggleton. Here is why I disagree.

1. Yes "normal" contrails are formed the way outlined in Mr. Eggleton's letter. But what I am talking about is the photographic and video evidence of "abnormal contrails." These trails form and then drop down to altitudes of only 8000 feet and less as seen in the photographs at my site. This also happens in during the hot summers. At lower altitudes it would be impossible for the ice crystals to maintain their form since they would rapidly melt.

2. We live in a very secluded area as you well know away from any commercial air routes. So how is it that I have seen over 100 flights over Powell River in a single day? Many people in this town have witnessed passenger jets flying back and forth all day leaving criss cross trails in the sky. It is illegal for jets to be flying so close together and in opposite directions. There was a few of us that saw two passenger jets cross paths. They were so close we thought they were going to hit for sure. At the angle we watched, we could see that the distance was dangerously close!

3. How is it that I and others have photographs of jets flying one behind the other with one leaving a long fluffy contrail, while the other one at the same altitude doesn't?

4. Last Friday two women who will stand by what they saw, stated that they saw a very light grey passenger jet that was flying so low that they could see the windows with ease. In order to see the windows they could NOT of been flying at legal altitudes. Also the plane had NO markings at all.

5. The jets fly over Powell River appear to be white MD-80s. Does the Comox military base fly such jets? The obvious answer is no. Also where would they land all these so called "training jets?"

6. Another item that is related to the trails is the illness that follows a heavy contrail day. When there is a heavy day of trail spraying, everyone in town begins to come down with intense flu symptoms during non-flu times of the year. Most common symptoms are intense sinus headaches, cramps, dizziness, confusion, arthritic symptoms, nausea. Tests of rain water have shown that there is an abnormally high concentration of aluminium in the water. The effects of aluminum overdose is short term memory loss and confusion which is what I am witnessing in this town. Since it is in the rain water we must assume that the particulates are coming from the spray of the jets.

7. How is it that at my site, I have a photo of three jets flying illegally close together?Again these were passenger size jets.

8. Why are these jets violating known air flight laws with impunity and with reckless disregard to the safety of this town?

Please forward this letter, and I await your response. Also by your request your letter will be uploaded to my internet site, and again I thank you for your response.

Sincerely,

Richard Vizzutti
