Professional portrait artists of any nationality or from any nation who wish to submit application to become a member must ensure that their primary discipline is that of portraiture.  Individuals wishing for CPA status should note that most memberships into the CPA is based on nomination by an existing CPA member:

A.

All applicants including Invitational Exhibitors are kindly requested to submit to the Canadian Portrait Academy office the following documentation:

1.  10-15 slides, photographs or jpegs of your portrait work.  If you are sending images of sculpture work, please ensure that there are 2 different angle images for each work.  The 2 images sent of sculpture work will count as 1 submission.

2.  Each slide and/or photograph should have written on its viewing side: artist's name, title of the work and the image number. If sending jpeg images please include all pertaining details in your email.

3.  On a separate piece of paper include a detailed list of your submissions to include: slide, photograph or jpeg number, title, media, dimensions and any further information pertaining to the work.

4.  A current long curriculum vitae/resume.

5.  An application/administration fee of $10.00 payable to "The Canadian Portrait Academy." NOTE: This fee does not apply to Invitational Exhibitors.

 

B.

1.  In the event that an application has NOT been successful, the CPA will return all documentation (minus the $10.00 application fee) that has been forwarded to us.

2.  If an artist is interested in re-applying for membership, they may do so at any time so long as all examples of portrait work are recent.

 

C.

1.  In the event that the application is successful, the CPA will retain all materials in order to establish an Artist's File in the CPA Library and Archives.

2.  Successful applicants will receive an official Canadian Portrait Academy Proclamation denoting their membership and allowing them the use of the acronyms "CPA" following their name.

Note:  Successful applicants should be aware that there is an annual membership fee of $100.00 per member which is payable immediately upon acceptance into the CPA and every year thereafter on the anniversary date of induction.
