December 11, 2004 I’m beginning to have a problem with my journal – I don’t know where to start . Saturday was another great day. I really have no idea how many people came by. I do know that we just got flooded at the end and for the most part I didn’t get a chance to write everyone’s name down. By far the best part of the day was when it was time to go. I took one last trip up the Alley to give away the last of the hot chocolate. I offered the last of it to Scott, Jeff, Steve and Larry. I reminded them that I was only there because Jesus loves me and I wanted to share his love with them. Before I knew what was happening Steve said “we want to pray with you”. I said sure! Next thing I know we are all holding hands and Steve is leading a prayer to Jesus. I can’t even describe how awesome that was. At the end of it all we all had a big hug, a few tears were shed and they told me that we were doing a great thing and that they would pray for us this week. I reminded them that I wasn’t doing anything – it was all Jesus. We had a lot of great contacts this week. We are finding that a lot of new people are coming over to us and saying, “I see you here every Saturday”, I believe that we are making progress in bringing Jesus to the lost. It’s funny how this is growing. The first time we went out we made 5 pounds of potatoes, met 1 person, then drove around to find 1 more. We handed out 2 Gospels and brought home about 4 pound of potatoes. We now bring 15 pounds of potatoes, meet at least 12 people and give out sleeping bags, mitts, hats hot chocolate and at least a dozen Gospels. Wow, God is good. Some interesting numbers, in the 6 weeks we have been doing this we have given out approximately: 70lbs of potatoes, 17 sleeping bag, 4lbs of hot chocolate, 10 pairs of mitts, 6 winter hats and drum roll … over 200 Gospels of John!!! Not bad for a couple of people that have no idea what they are doing. “Lead, follow or get out of the way”, I think I will follow, Jesus seems to be taking us down the right path here. |
