Can Alley Home
January 29, 2005

Another beautiful day in the Alley.

Well it would seem that the police are continuing to crack down on the homeless. We spoke to Brian (Big Bill’s friend) and he informed us that he had gotten 2 tickets this week. The first was for pushing a shopping cart and the other was for canning without a license. I’m just going to give this one to God because I would just go on a rant.

Brian was getting himself ready for a job. He was on his way to buy a back belt then off to the day labor shop. Brian had found a place to stay and it was nice to see him all cleaned up. What a difference a little soap and some sleep can make on the outward appearance of a person.
Brian informed us that Big Bill had entered rehab. Praise God and that Brian himself had just come out of detox. It is really cool to see how God is moving in our “flock”. That makes 2 in rehab and 1 sober out of detox.
We were able to pray with Brian for healing for his back before sending him on his way with a blessing.

Next up was Hollywood. He told us that he too had been stopped that week by the police, but was let go with a hand shake. He informs us that he is no longer living under the bridge – yeah!! Praise God.

Kevin came by next and looked terrible. Please pray for him this week. He would not stay and talk as he had to be somewhere. He had really bad frost bit on his face. I am finding that if our regular guys have been drinking they tend to avoid us. Personal conviction I think.

We had a really great conversation with Raymond. He is very knowledgeable regarding the Bible and he has a line a job at Miller Park. He is still living under the bridge but he plans to come to S.H.A.L.O.M. Ministries on Thursday for the Bible study. This is a man who praises Jesus even in his current situation.

Last, but far from least was Clayton. He showed up about 11:55 and we talked with him until 12:45. This is a man who loves the Lord. We had a great conversation with him about Jesus and we were able to answer his questions (thank you Jesus for the words). At the end of the conversation he pulled out some of his artwork from his cart (see the photo). This guy has some real talent and is try to get into technical college to further his skills. Please pray that the doors will be open for him.

May Jesus bless you all !!
