History card reads: This concrete tower has the most unique day mark of any in the area. The vertical white side is seen as the rear range tower from northbound ships. Aligning the Front Range light and the rear range light provides a sailing line into Miraflores Locks. The black side prevents sighting from southbound ships and reduces errors.
