| Morten Harket is perhaps one of the most well know members in the organization "Human Worth", It is first and foremost the abortion issue, which has a special engagement with the front figure in a-ha. Last week he was member of the audience during the presentation of the "Livsvernpris". "The reason I´am here goes a long way back. My father has been involved in work for "Human Worth" for as long as I can remenber. As this was a part of me from childhood it has been naturally been followed up in adult hood" says Harket to the newspaper "Norway Today". He explains that it is first and foremost the abortion issue which has engaged him but also underlines that (Livsvernpris), "right to life" at life´s ends is important. Harket seems involved and reflective in the question in "We are in danger in becoming a society where family bonds are crumbling. "Earlier it was customary that the whole family was living together in one house, He says. We have a younger generation who aren´t so good at listening to people whit more life experience, possible those who are older can gave you an advice. The result is a society which isn´t so accepting the whole course of life, he explains. "You aren´ t afraid that you carreer could be linked to the abortion issue then?" No I have never worried about that, says Harket almost a bit surprised at the question that has always been a part of me, the abortion action struggle of the 70´s and 80´s. There are many ways to work with the abortion issue, you have that which goes under civil disobedience right up to what can resemble terrorism. Here is a big spectre. Everyting can be understood under special conditions. Harket answer that he himself doesn´t support civil disobedience, but at the same time he explains that in time it could be he´s place. "In Norway I have a problem with supporting a civil disobedience one has to be very careful in using such methods, we could then make free with other rights, We have every opportunity to solve the problem over the negotiating table, at the same time Harket underlines that says that is important that democracy must also listen to the minority opinion, so it won´t lead to civil disobedience. "I can´t understand how we can take upon ourselfs such rights over the unborn life. I belive the long term effect of abortion is something we can´ foresee the consequences of." concludes Harket. I´am haunting, I have put out some feelers - recived response and a picture is starting to form. Harket says. The basic process is when you are writing the song. It´s been going to varying degrees over time. Now the wires are been fastened. I have begun recording some very simple ideas of this songs. It´s a phase; Then there are a new phase where the collaborative forces are decided upon. And then there´s the production period But we are not there yet ." Harket is now in Barbados where he is melting artist as he descibes as being a caliber to which I become an ephemera in comparision", "Even tought my fur is becoming silver colured, there´s much I can learn from listening to someone who is been on the road much longer than me. Without it having to mean that will be making babies together". Which are your ambitions on this album? Not one, I am not thinking about my career. I just want to capture what is interesting to me looking at the ceiling here in London and feeling that is the same thing which is still driving me and that´s based on something simple: finding a song which can go under the skin on myself and others. |
