The result of their early work was "Spirit Battle" an ambitious musical piece with an album cover showin a burning Christ above pitch black demmons.
We are back in the 70īs and Morten and Geir Kolbu are using the gigantic
church organ in trinity chuch in Oslo.
The album cover was finished long before the music. The album was never released. - What do you say Harket?...
-"Time to put that cover now in 1999!"... -"Nope, that album was performed in concert for hundreds of thousands of people in my mind"-.
Morten was very involved into the progressive rock in the 70īs: Queen,
Pink Floyd, Genesis, and of course his favourite band Uriah Heep.
In that time Bridges was influenced by the same bands. We are talking about long introductions, heavy themes and teatrical concepts.
Morten it was in the opposite pole. "The Blues" for him was a sort of self
inflicted torture, he joined the staright blues band Souldier Blue.
- "I actively hated the blues, it was so incredibly dull, relaxed, repetitive, uninteligent and uninteresting. Souldier Blue played old traditional blues songs in the beguining, my own objections became my motivations for doing this. I understood then that something was happening to me. Choose to do this was the way to let me doing discover another frontiers"-...
"Itīs such a delicate thing in the beguining in a way i was completely uninterrested in something i disliked, i didnīt feel any response from my
voive or my system. Singing blues was deadly dull for me but at the same time i understood that there was something  wrong with my receptors so i keep my mouth shout, i didnīt get involved in anything else, i was only
singing  as a "good boy", it was like taking  an exam. That would end on my apprenticeship.
Any way i had always been the boss, made it seem like i knew everything
and drove everyone around me up the wall.
During the "Souldier Blue" era, Morten met Magne and Pal , it was 1979.
Bridgesīs Pal and Magne their first serious band, turned Morten on. The three were completely different people but found common ground in their huge musical ambitions.
A-ha was born in september 1982, Pal and Mags wanted me in the band
before they heard me sing, play or anything. Everything was about attitude
and personality, originally they wanted me as drummer, Pal didnīt want anyone else to be the vocalist. At the same time, i knew that anybody else but me could be the singer".
THE COVER ALBUM WAS
MADE BY: MORTEN HARKET.
