A-HA AND THEIR LIFELINES. |
Article by: Tania Canchola Cuevas. Photo by: Rodolfo Rodriguez Cambronero. June 8, 2002. (21:05 PM) Oslo, Norway. Yes, this is the day I arrived, but there were some complications because my photographer didn´t appear for my interview with Pal Waaktaar Savoy the day before the concert. He was there for the concert but, who could blame him, he was just married to the lovely Paula. So he was forgiven. And after his short honeymoon, he was there for the important concert pictures. Yes, one of the greatest bands in the middle of the 80´s is back performing together again after a few years apart. During their time apart, they were out doing their own solo projects, but in 1999 they got together to perform at the "Novel Peace Prize Ceremony". Then in march 2000, they recorded the great album "Minor Earth Major Sky", they made a short trips throughout Europe to promote their latest album, and they go back into the studios in July of 2001 to record their newest album called "Lifelines". And now in June of 2002, they´re beginning their World tour at home in the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo, Norway. At 21:05 PM A-ha appears, in front of 123,000 frenetic souls that were together to dance and shout for one of the best live bands from the 80´s. Mr. Morten Harket with a big smile opened their first concert with "Afternoon High", a lovely song from their new album, and in front of us there was a big stage with a line of screens with reciprocating motion changing all the time with bright hallucinating lights. It was great! Now it was time to make the chorus for Morten and jump very high like we wanted to touch the sky. The most danceable songs: "Did Anyone Approach You?", "The Sun Always Shines On TV", "The Sun Never Shone That Day", "The Living Daylights" (theme from James Bond´s adventures). To that concert, people were accomodated from many different places like: Holland, France, Nicaragua, México, England, Italy, Japan and Brazil. These people spanned ages from 17 to 45 years etc. Important people also went to the concert, they were enjoying the music and the party at the Ullevaal Stadium. Morten make gala of his voice when he sang his falsettos like in "Summer Moved On", "Scoundrel Days" (with those guitars from Magne and Pal in great coordination), "Lifelines" (a beautiful song composed by: Furuholmen and interpreted with emotion, for example when he said: "ĦDon´t Let Your Lifelines Go!"), and the lovely "Stay On These Roads". The time 23:00 PM and the daylight was toree, yes actually it never goes on and the weather and the atmosphere at that time were great, the band said goodbye and all they were toree "Wanted More", and as is the custom In Europe, they started to sing "The Living Daylights". After a short moment, the band reapperead and sang three more songs, but all of us toree were waiting for one special song; Yes, ĦTake On Me, yeaaaaaah! NEXT |
