| Notice the clear white colour of the blade. Also the watermarking along the blade. The ridge along the blade is made partly as a blood canal, but also partly so when the blade is swung properly it makes a swishing noise. |
| The watermarking is more visible on this close up of the sword. The handle here is wrapped in cloth. However for very expensive shinken swords it could be made from silk, covering shark's skin. |
