- Holt, Erastus, who resided in Hamilton, Canada West for some time prior to the war, began his career with the 49th Infantry in September 1861 as a 1st Lt. and rose to the rank of Colonel. Sadly, he died of wounds sustained in battle shortly before the war's end.
- Kenville, William--actual name was Benoni Quenneville; born on July 11, 1838 in St. Anicet, Lower Canada [Canada East; Quebec] and moved to New York. Enlisted with the 44th New York and later served in Company G, 146th New York as a Private. Information was kindly provided to me by Linda Goodrich in Australia.
