'All
Things Bright and Beautiful'
Day 1
One of the
heroes of the 2nd Polish Corps was Wojtek; who was adopted in Iran as its
mascot. At Monte Cassino Wojtek actually helped in the fighting.
He died famous and well loved. What type of animal was Wojtek?
What did he do to help in the fighting? And where did he die?
Day 2
Don Marquis
wrote a series of books about two fictional characters, an alley cat and
a cockroach. What are their names? Who/what do they believe
they where in their former life? And what does the cockroach use
to record the life of the alley cat?
Day 3
She was never
defeated, and never headed. She set or equaled a new stakes record
in every one of the 8 stakes races she won. She raced at distances
from 5 ½ furlongs to 1-½ miles with an average winning margin
of 8 1/3 lengths. She was queen of the track, and everyone knew it.
She’d done it all. She held the Filly Triple Crown, had been Filly
2 year old of the Year, and would no doubt win that title as a 3 year old
even if she never raced again. It was decided to put her to one more
test—there would be a match race between Foolish Pleasure, that year’s
Kentucky Derby winner. She had never raced against colts before,
but she certainly seemed to be up to it. Foolish Pleasure’s trainer
gave him a few extra sessions in breaking from the gate fast, since this
filly seemed to win all her races by leading from the start. What
was this filly’s name? What was the result of this race? Where
is she buried and in what position?
