Nursing is my love and I believe it is a gift from God. I count it a blessing to help people.
For 4 years I worked in Med/surg unit.
After that I worked on a Mother Infant Unit for 5 years. It was a fun place to work. Most of my patients were happy and healthy and I found it inspiring to see new lives on a daily basis. After a back injury on the job I was no longer able to take care of adults and I could not lift more than 10 pounds. I was very sad to have to leave my unit. God had other plans for me and I soon found a new place to help people.... very little people.
I switched to working in the Special Care nursery taking care of preemie babies and the little sick babies too. They are not to heavy for me but learning to care for them was a new challenge.
It is very sad when a little one doesn't make it. It is very rewarding to see a little preemie do well after many set back and one day go home with their parents. I've been working in the unit for a couple of years and I am adjusted to my new neonatal nursing job. I love the people I work with on the night shift 7pm - 7am and I am happy to continue to have the opportunity to help families to care for their new little ones.
