There's not much on this simple site for the casual surfer, this is a private site where I log some of my canoe trips and a place to share some brief descriptions as well as some of the better pictures I've accumulated with my invitees. As stated, this site is more of a trip log than a hobby site and is not intended as a resource. |

I am a diehard Canoeist and currently paddle between 40 and 50 days a year. I've been paddling canoes on and off for about 20 years, but my outdoor interests have gone well beyond paddling. I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1991 for six months and partially again in 1996. Although multi-month treks are unfeasible at the moment, my future plans are to expand my paddling to Northern Maine, BWCA, Canada and all parts north. On the short list are places like the Allagash, the Steel River and the historic BWCA border route ending at Lake Superior. On the long list are the Back, Thelon and Kazan Rivers in the Nunavut Territory of northern Canada. Though much to my chagrin, only about 50% of the trips I plan each year become realized. I love canoes almost as much as I love paddling them and I wish I could paddle them all. After a long torrid love-hate relationship with many hobbies I've had, I realized that a canoe is the only thing that has never let me down. To quote Bill Mason, "I find it hard to believe that not everybody is crazy about canoes. A canoe is the only thing I know that has no moving parts. There's nothing to break down and you don't have to feed a canoe." |
