Taxation
Responsible government is a  right, not a privilege in Canada
Fight for fair taxation.  Logic tells us that a country must have an income, yes, but a reasonable income. One which allows its citizens to remain above the poverty line, which is spent on necessities, and the burden of which is shared equally by all citizens, rich or poor.  Each person’s taxes paid must reflect an equal reduction in quality of living.  The government must be accountable for all monies spent.  We must vote on where to spend our tax money.  We must have the right to ensure that our choices are carried out.  Responsible government is a right, not a privilege in Canada.  Salaries of our MP’s and MPP’s must be capped and increase only by the rate of inflation or in extreme cases, by majority vote of the PUBLIC.  Expense accounts for members of government must be minimal and capped, only to increase in amount according to yearly inflation.  We will no longer finance their fancy dinners, five star hotels, and first class airfares, alcohol or family parties.  We will under no circumstances finance their other, indecent, acts.  Records of all expenditures must be available to the public upon request.  The members of government are no better than the rest of us and should receive no better treatment.  When we stop the preferential treatment of our government members, we will minimize the power they have over us.  They can fly coach just like the rest of us.  How many of us have an inflation proof pension which allows for a decadent lifestyle after a mere four year term of (dare I call it work?) if ever?  We must limit the number of terms, which any member of government, federal or provincial may serve.  Let’s spread out the power.

The government has removed our
right to tax revolt by requiring that our taxes be removed from our paychecks before we see any of our money.  This removes our right to protest government actions by withholding their pay.  We must be able to control the governments pay.  Only through this method can we control the government’s power.  At present, members of government do not need to be accountable for their actions in order to get paid.  No longer will we Canadians tolerate this theft.  By taking this freedom from us, they have left us only with more drastic options for revolt

Government has abused the privilege of taxing us and continues to raise taxes, putting more and more
Canadians in poverty.  Canada is the richest country in the world when it comes to our natural resources, but our government does not responsibly manage our heritage.  Instead it exploits our assets and sells them out to other countries, often at a lower rate than Canadians pay.  An example of a lucrative resource owned by the people and sold out from under us is Ontario Hydro.  The people owned this company and should have had the right to vote via a referendum on whether or not it was sold.  Anything owned by the government is truly owned by the people.  We must insist on a vote in the use and/or sale of these items.  We must make our positions clear in no uncertain terms and we must not take no for an answer when it comes to putting our wishes into action.  We the people own these resources.  Therefore, government must be accountable for their use.
