ITALERI 1:72 JU-87 STUKA
Quick Review

Reviewer: Jean C Houg  (rec.models.scale)

Here is a quick review of Italieri 1/72 Ju87 Stuka. Hope it will be useful...

Aircraft: Junkers 87 R2, the Well-known Stuka, used by Flieger fuhrer AFRIKA between 1941 and 1943. This is the Long-range version.

Kit Parts: grey plastic, engraved panel lines, Parts are fine overall with no additional work to be done. Clear parts are something heavy, and have to be reformed with Vac-form technique, as many of 1/72 clear parts.  But it's really a pleasant kit.

Instructions: The Italieri standard....

Running commentary on construction: Pieces are going well together, but you'll have to use putty at the fore part (engine)

Options: moveable flaps, open canopy, open speed brake, moveable wheels & propellors, Drop tanks, 500Kg bombs, 100Kg bombs, rear armament.

Versions: Ju87B2. two colors scheme: France 19040 (RLM70/71/65) and Afrika with a overall RLM79 scheme. With a little work, it is possible (as me) to make a Ju87R2 or a B1 in early 1940. The version I built is JU87R2 used in mid 1942 by Fliegerfuhrer Afrika, RLM79 with RLM70 spots , as it can be seen in the #Camuflage and markings of the luftwaffe# (model art). It is fitted with Bf109's drop tanks attached with two leather pieces. Minor modification is made at the engine with rebuilding the two little air intakes.

Decals: are as usual with Italieri. Fine, but something glossy. Prefer Aeromaster or Almark decals for this kit.

Overall accuracy: Perfect. I use Squadron JU87 in action for reference.
