Major Is Lost, But
Her Crew Is Saved

A telegram was received by Captain William Rouvell, of Marine City this morning from his brother Captain Philip E. Rouvell, master of the steamer Major to the effect that the boat was lost at Detour but that the entire crew of 18 men had been rescued in safety. No further details were contained in the telegram but the good news brought happiness to several homes in Marine City and lifted the pall of suspense which has weighed them down since Sunday night. Captain Philip Rouvell of the Major resides at Marine City as does also the first mate, Charles Guy. The news that the entire crew of the Major was saved is authentic as it comes from the captain of the boat.
